Neuilly-Plaisance can be explored through two themes: paths and green spaces around the Plateau d’Avron, and local culture and craftsmanship. Parc des Coteaux d’Avron, the paths along the Marne, Notre-Dame d’Avron church and La Fauvette cinema each offer a different perspective. You can shape your stay around whether you want to focus on landscape and outdoor activities or on architecture, film and craftsmanship.

Green spaces and paths

Parc des Coteaux d’Avron covers 31.4 hectares on the site of former gypsum quarries. Its former use as a quarry gives the area a history of its own; the stated area also conveys the scale of the park.

Voie Lamarque is an almost 2-kilometre-long promenade stretching from the banks of the Marne to near Parc des Coteaux d’Avron. It is also a former railway line that connected the gypsum quarries of the Plateau d’Avron with the Marne. The route thus brings together the character of a promenade and a former transport link.

Between the RER station and Rue Faidherbe, Voie Lamarque includes a walking path for blind and visually impaired people. This section should be understood as a distinct part of the route: its two stated reference points are the station and Rue Faidherbe.

Parc des Coteaux d’Avron also has separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists. Along the Marne, the Promenade André Devambez likewise has separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians; they are lit there. This distinguishes the specific path features of the park and the riverside promenade.

Local culture and craftsmanship

Notre-Dame d’Avron adds a historic building to the landscape and walking destinations: the church has been protected and listed as a historic monument since 2004. Together with the former railway line and the former gypsum quarries, it points to different aspects of the town’s history.

The municipal La Fauvette cinema is located on the Plateau d’Avron and was founded in 1989. It holds the Art & Essai distinction and the Jeune Public and Patrimoine et Répertoire labels. This adds a film offering with its own clearly defined profile to the landscape routes and architectural heritage.

Another distinctive feature is Atelier Naudet. In Neuilly-Plaisance, it makes and assembles barometers, hygrometers, tide clocks, barographs and wine-preservation instruments. Its range thus extends from weather and tide instruments to devices for preserving wine. Those interested in handcrafted instruments will find a different focus here than at the park, promenade or cinema.

Maison Naudet offers guided tours of its barometer workshop. As availability may change, check in advance whether a tour is possible on your chosen date. This allows you to include this visit alongside the paths and cultural venues described as permanent attractions.
