Explore Épinay-Sur-Seine through two themes: paths and nature along the Seine, and architectural and cultural history. Other highlights include a free-to-access cultural venue, a swimming pool with several pools, and a train station served by RER C and line T11. Check the latest service information for the station before travelling.
Paths and green spaces along the Seine
The “Berges de Seine” stretch for more than three kilometres from Boulevard Foch to the border with Argenteuil. The “Berges de Seine” and the adjoining riverside parks form an ecological reservoir and are part of the Île-de-France green and blue network. The riverbanks are home to numerous plant, bird, insect and bat species, including the lesser spotted woodpecker and the kingfisher. For nature enthusiasts, this offers a perspective ranging from the ecological significance of the river area to specific named species.
A 3.2-kilometre path along the Seine can be used on foot or by bicycle. Another green landmark is Parc Jean Monnet: this 19th-century park lies on the Seine, covers 1.6 hectares and features romantic ruins. The “Réserve écologique” has been a resource centre for numerous animal and plant species since early 2020. The riverside path, park and Réserve offer different ways to explore, with landscape and nature taking centre stage.
Architecture and urban history
The former château of Épinay-Sur-Seine was built in 1760 and has been used as the town hall since 1908. The “Ancien château d'Epinay-sur-Seine” has been listed as a historic monument since 21 January 1987. The château’s construction, its use as the town hall and its designation as a historic monument mark different chapters in the history of the same building.
The railway station also has a link to architectural heritage: it has been awarded the Île-de-France region’s “Patrimoine d’intérêt régional” label. The Laboratoires Éclair in Épinay-Sur-Seine are another historical highlight. They played a major role in the history of French cinema; the site was involved in the production, development and processing of more than half of the films made in the 20th century.
Walks, cycling and cultural venues
The municipal “Les balades du patrimoine” programme offers self-guided themed walks on foot or by bicycle through Épinay-Sur-Seine’s architectural, natural and cultural heritage. For a cycling-focused outing, there is also an approximately two-hour circuit through the town that takes you to its main monuments and lesser-known architectural features. If you would like to plan how long a bike ride will take, the approximate two-hour duration provides a useful guide; the themed walks also cover nature and culture as well as architecture.
The Micro-Folie d’Épinay-sur-Seine is a free-to-access cultural venue. It offers a digital museum, a Fab Lab, a virtual reality room, exhibitions, a reading lounge and play areas focused on art and culture. Check the current programme and opening arrangements before your visit.
For a water-based activity, Le Canyon has a 25-metre swimming pool, a children’s pool and a 125-metre water slide. Check the facility’s current operating conditions before travelling.
