Bagnolet offers several distinct cultural themes and a scenic highlight. The Château de l'Étang serves as a venue for cultural exchange and exhibitions, churches reflect architectural and heritage history, Cin'Hoche is dedicated to film, and Le Sample hosts public events. The 26-hectare Parc départemental Jean-Moulin-Les Guilands adds views of Paris and Montreuil to the mix. You can tailor your stay according to whether architecture, a specific cultural event or the park landscape is your priority.

The Château and Churches: Architectural History Up Close

The Château de l'Étang was built in 1873 and serves as a venue for cultural exchange and exhibitions. It is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Check the opening hours before your visit, especially if you are planning to see an exhibition at a particular time of day.

The Église Notre-Dame de Pontmain combines several architectural features: it is Neo-Romanesque, has a campanile and is laid out in the shape of a Latin cross. The church was built in Bagnolet between 1927 and 1931 as part of the Chantiers du Cardinal. Since July 2023, it has been listed in the Île-de-France regional heritage register of notable sites. Its construction period, architecture and listing offer different points of interest if you are interested in architectural history.

The Église Saint-Leu Saint-Gilles also has a precisely dated historic status: it has been listed as a historic monument since the decree of November 29, 1977. Public visiting hours are listed as Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; there is an exception in the late morning during services. Check the hours before your visit if you are planning to go at a specific time.

Cinema and Events

At Cin'Hoche, the cinema's history and its program are two distinct points of interest. It opened in 1977 and was one of the first cinemas founded by a municipality. Its weekly program includes five to six films, one of which is aimed specifically at young audiences. Since schedules can change, check the listings in advance if a particular screening is important to your trip. The story of its opening remains a separate point of interest from the changing film lineup.

Le Sample offers a different kind of events program: public events include concerts, open-mic events, parties, readings, DJ sets and other performances. Unlike Cin'Hoche's film program, planning a visit here depends on the dates of individual events. Check the dates before your trip, as the program may change. Le Sample is located on the former site of the Publison factories; the location links today's cultural program with the history of the former factory site.

Park Views of Paris and Montreuil

Parc départemental Jean-Moulin-Les Guilands is a scenic highlight: it covers 26 hectares and offers several views of Paris and Montreuil. This sets it apart from the architectural and event venues with its size and viewing points. If you are weighing up cultural history, film or events alongside a park visit, Bagnolet offers a range of interests that you can prioritize according to your travel plans.
