Nature and cultural heritage offer different ways to enjoy a stay in Moissy-Cramayel. A circular walking trail, an arboretum and paths also developed for cycling sit alongside the Obélisque de Cramayel and the Église de l’Assomption. When planning your stay, you can choose between outdoor activities and historical interests.

Walking trails, arboretum and cycling

Opened in 2023, the 14-kilometre circular walking trail connects the Ru des Hauldres, the heights of the Chanteloup Arboretum and the Parc de la Motte. As a loop, it gives a walk a clear structure; its three landmarks link a watercourse, elevated ground and a park. This lets you see the route as a single walking activity, rather than focusing on just one natural destination. Its length makes the scale of the trail tangible and can help you plan the walk as a distinct part of your stay.

The arboretum in the Parc de l’Arboretum is home to tree species typical of the nearby Forêt de Sénart, alongside exotic species. For nature enthusiasts, the appeal lies not only in the surroundings but also in this contrast: you can view the native and exotic species as two distinct botanical perspectives.

The Espace naturel de la Motte has paths that have also been developed for cycling. This provides a separate option alongside the circular walking trail for anyone who would rather explore nature by bike. When planning, you can decide whether to include in your stay a continuous walking route with a stated distance or paths in a natural area developed for cycling.

Obelisk and church: traces of different eras

The Obélisque de Cramayel offers concrete clues to the history of the area. The 25-metre-high stone monument is topped with a gilded copper globe. François Fontaine, lord of the Cramayel estate, erected the obelisk in 1767. It can be seen when approaching along Avenue Pierre Aubergé. The obelisk is partly protected as a historic monument; it was listed by decree on 25 April 1975. The construction date and the decree mark different milestones: 1767 refers to its construction, while 1975 refers to its listing.

An earlier historical reference is the Église de l’Assomption de Moissy-Cramayel: it was built in the 12th century and has been included in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since 1926. Here, too, the construction period and the listing represent different aspects of its history. Compared with the obelisk, the church’s construction history reaches further back; together, the two sites offer different historical perspectives.

Cinema for different audiences

La Rotonde adds a cinema offering to the historic sites. The cinema is classified as Art et Essai and carries the Jeune Public label. It also holds Ciné Doudou screenings for young children every month. Alongside the cinema’s classifications, this provides a recurring programme for a clearly defined young audience. If you would like to include it in your plans, check the schedule in advance, as screening dates may change.
