Saintry-sur-Seine lies on the right bank of the Seine. The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Virgin, the riverside areas, the ForĂŞt de Rougeau to the south and recurring events each offer a different focus. Church architecture and protected art come together with the river, woodland walks and local events. If you are planning a stay, you can choose according to your interests: culture, nature, a guided visit to the educational farm, or the timing of a festival.
Church and protected artwork
The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Virgin was built on the site of the chapel of the Château de Champlâtreux. Its understated architectural style is typical of the late 18th century; its features include a squat bell tower and a small triangular pediment. The church houses the painting “L’Assomption de la Vierge.” It was created in 1780 and is classified as a protected historic object. For clarity, the late 18th century refers to the architectural style, while 1780 is the year the painting was created.
Guided visit to the educational farm
The Ferme des Minis Chapeaux de Paille is an educational farm. It offers educational, therapeutic and social activities with farm animals for people of all ages. A guided family visit takes you from one enclosure to another, where visitors can discover chickens, rabbits, goats, ponies, pigs and parrots, among other animals. If you plan to take this particular tour, check its availability before your trip.
Seine riverbanks and forests
The riverside areas along the Seine include an ecological space within the town that makes it easier to access and engage with the river. The Forêt de Rougeau lies south of Saintry-sur-Seine. The regional forests of Rougeau and Bréviande offer a wide range of walking options. In the wider region, the Allée Royale connects the Regional Forest of Rougeau with the State Forest of Sénart: this route, almost six kilometres long, can be explored on foot or by bicycle. The nature options therefore vary in scale: the ecological space is within the town, walking opportunities are spread across regional forests, and the Allée Royale connects two forests.
Festivals and event dates
The Christmas market has been held every year for at least five years on the square in front of the town hall and in Parc Polegate. Saintry’s traditional Vide-Grenier is also held annually, in the courtyard of the presbytery. The 2026 edition took place on 30 and 31 May and was organised by the parish association Les Amis de Saintry et Morsang. The same parish association holds a parish fête in the presbytery courtyard in late May or early June. In late November or early December, it organises a parish bingo at Salle Corot in Saintry. These events offer different seasonal reasons to visit. If a festival is the reason for your trip, check the date of the relevant edition in advance.
