The 30 km “Circuit vélo Vieilles Forges” also passes through Bourg-Fidèle and highlights the village’s hilly scenery. Nearby, at Lac des Vieilles Forges, there is also an 11 km loop for hiking or cycling. You can compare the two cycling routes by their different lengths and consider the shorter loop by the lake as another option. It can be completed on foot or by bike.

Écomusée and local history

The Écomusée Au Sable de Forge is located in Bourg-Fidèle in a former foundry and is devoted to traditional ironworking occupations. Numerous tools, objects, and machines are on display there. Those interested in the history of work and craftsmanship will find a different focus here than on the outdoor routes.

Visits to the Écomusée are possible by reservation. If you plan to visit, check the dates and reservation options in advance. Bourg-Fidèle is known as a Huguenot village founded in the 16th century by Antoine de Croÿ. This historical connection adds another perspective on the village to the history of ironworking.

Towards Lac des Vieilles Forges

The road from Bourg-Fidèle towards Lac des Vieilles Forges also has a distinctive landscape: it winds through the forest under the shade of tall trees. The bends and woodland add another point of reference for trip planning alongside the comparison of the cycling routes and the loop by the lake. The road route and the 11 km loop are separate options: the loop is near Lac des Vieilles Forges and is designated for hiking or cycling.
