Le Magny offers several ways to shape a stay: an approximately one-hour walk in the Beauregard Gardens, two hikes of 6.5 and 23.3 kilometres, and Romanesque architectural features in the Eglise Saint-Michel. The routes differ considerably in length and theme, making it possible to choose a focus for your hiking days.

Beauregard Gardens and the Couarde Valley

The Beauregard Gardens are part of the Indre Department’s “Espaces Naturels Sensibles” network. There is a 2.3-kilometre trail at the site, with an estimated duration of about one hour. At 2.3 kilometres, it is the shortest of the three walking routes mentioned, and the approximate time helps you fit it into your day’s plans.

The Couarde Valley lies below the gardens. You can explore it along a scenic trail that passes through meadows lined with hedges and beneath a wooded canopy. The gardens are also home to some old grape varieties and fruit varieties that have since been forgotten. Alongside the trail and landscape, the gardens’ distinctive plants are another feature to look out for.

Hiking trails with different themes

The Circuit n°26 “Bocage et traditions” loop starts at the car park by the Salle des fêtes de Le Magny. This 23.3-kilometre hiking route passes through Le Magny, Chassignolles and La Châtre; the stated duration is about five hours and thirty minutes. Before setting off, confirm the route markings and check the trail conditions. The approximate walking time provides a useful guide for planning your day.

Along the route, the trail runs between the ponds of CĂ´tes Ă  Buraud and Moulin Borgnon through an exceptional biodiversity corridor. This corridor is connected to bocage, wetlands, wooded habitats and waterways such as the Indre. The loop is therefore characterised not only by its length but also by its range of landscapes.

The Circuit pédestre n°10 “de la Couarde aux vignes” is a 6.5-kilometre loop starting at Place Edmond Ravaud, near Le Magny’s village hall. It explores the local history of winegrowing and passes remarkable restored vineyard huts. Compared with n°26, this loop is shorter and has a different thematic focus: the history of winegrowing and the huts complement the longer route’s landscape and biodiversity themes.

Romanesque architecture in Le Magny

The Eglise Saint-Michel stands on a hill and historically belonged to the Abbey of Déols. It preserves Romanesque features: its choir and the remains of the crossing date from the 11th century. Notable architectural details include figurative capitals depicting people. Individual and group tours are available on request.

The Prieuré Saint-Michel is located on Rue du Prieuré in Le Magny.
