A 14th-century château, a Romanesque bell tower, an aircraft collection in the park and wine visits are among the highlights of Savigny-Lès-Beaune. There are also routes through the lanes, between the forest and the stream, and through the woods and vineyards. This gives you several options when planning your trip: architectural history, collections, wine or exploring the landscape.

Château and church: different periods in history

The Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune was built in 1340 by Jean de Frolois for Duke Eudes IV of Burgundy. The admission ticket includes access to the château, its collections and the park; check the current access arrangements before your visit.

Almost 100 military aircraft from around the world are on display in the Château park. These include four aircraft from the Patrouille de France, eleven MiGs and 17 Dassault aircraft. The collection adds a distinct dimension to the château’s architectural history: the medieval origins and a substantial aircraft collection can be seen during the same visit. The 17 Dassault aircraft make up the largest of the three groups listed.

The parish church of Saint-Cassien provides an earlier historical landmark: its Romanesque bell tower dates from the second half of the 12th century. The church was listed as a Monument historique in 1925 and classified as a Monument historique in 1930. The tower was built more than a century before the château; the later dates mark two stages in its heritage protection, not construction phases.

Wine visits and a walk through the vineyards

The Domaine du Prieuré welcomes visitors to the winery year-round, where they can discover its wines and different vintages. Booking an appointment is recommended. For groups of more than 30 people, the Domaine also offers a leisurely walk through the vineyards. The terroir and vineyard work are explained along the way; the walk must be arranged in advance. It complements the winery visit with insights into the landscape and the work carried out in the vineyards.

Walking tour and routes through the village and countryside

The “Si Savigny m’était conté” route is a signposted walking tour with 15 stops through the village lanes. The Chemin des Bois runs between the forest and the Rhoin stream, while the Chemin des Vignes runs between the forest and the vineyards. You can choose whether to walk through streamside or vineyard landscapes.

The Voie des Vignes is open to pedestrians and cyclists; its section between Beaune and Dijon passes through Savigny-Lès-Beaune. The Parcours ludiques offer two family-friendly puzzle trails following in the footsteps of the Duchesse du Maine and Capitaine d’Astille. Further afield in the region, the Rhoin runs along the valley from the cliffs of Bouilland to Savigny-Lès-Beaune.
