When planning your trip to La Rochepot, you can consider cultural history, landscapes and wine as three distinct themes. The specific points of interest range from a Romanesque church and a dolmen to a protected estate, routes through vineyards and orchards, and wine tourism tastings. This allows you to decide whether you would like to focus your stay more on architectural and art history, scenic trails or wine.

Cultural history at the church, dolmen and estate

The Eglise Saint-Georges is a 12th-century Romanesque church. Its figurative capitals depict biblical scenes, bringing together architecture and sculpture. By decree of 15 March 1909, the church was classified as a historic monument. A very different type of monument is the dolmen « La Pierre qui vire », which was also classified as a historic monument by decree of 21 May 1910. The church and dolmen thus represent different cultural connections: sacred architecture with sculptural ornament on the one hand, and a dolmen as a monument in its own right on the other.

The Domaine du château de La Rochepot adds an architectural history perspective. It was built on the former medieval residence of the Pot family. Its layout is triangular, with two round towers and one square tower at the corners. This allows you to consider the overall shape and the individual tower forms as distinct architectural features. The Domaine is partly registered as a historic monument and partly classified as a historic monument; it is also fully protected. Alongside the church and dolmen, its history offers another, different way to explore the heritage of the area.

Routes with different points of reference

Circuit n° 18 « Le Circuit des Roches » passes through vineyards and orchards, as well as the hills and rocks of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. La Rochepot is a possible starting point; the start is near the town hall. Another route to consider is the GR 7, which crosses the commune to the east and west of the village. The distinction is useful for orientation: La Rochepot is named as a possible starting point for Circuit n° 18, and the landscape is described in detail; for the GR 7, the focus is on its route on both sides of the village. This helps you decide whether your plans should focus more on the specified landscape features or on the GR 7’s location within the commune.

Wine as a clearly defined experience

For 2026, Les Divines Bourgogne offers a sensory tasting course featuring three Burgundy wines, tasting methods and three food-and-wine pairings. There are also tailor-made wine tourism experiences featuring visits to vineyards, wine cellars and cooperages, as well as tastings of exceptional crus. Check the availability of these experiences before your trip. The formats have different emphases: the course brings together tasting, tasting methods and pairings; the tailor-made experiences include visits to different wine-related places and additional tastings. This distinction can help you choose between a clearly defined course and broader wine tourism experiences.

There are therefore three distinct themes to choose from: the history and design of the monuments, the landscapes along the routes, and the wine tourism experiences. You can weigh these aspects separately when planning, rather than treating them as one combined tour.
