Le Minihic Sur Rance combines maritime history with estuary trails and activities on the water. Local points of interest offer different perspectives: the chapel and reconstructed dry dock represent the built heritage, while the Circuit de La Landriais runs along the coast and through the surrounding countryside. There is also a cycling route, courses on the Rance and a shuttle to Dinard that runs year-round. When planning, you can give these themes different priorities rather than combining them into a fixed itinerary.
Chapel, Shipyard History and Boatbuilding
The Chapelle Sainte-Anne in Saint-Buc dates from the 17th century and has been listed as a Monument historique since 1982. It offers a tangible connection to the town’s architectural history. The Cale sèche de La Landriais tells a different maritime story: it was reconstructed between 1998 and 2008 under the direction of the Amis de la Baie de la Landriais and added to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. The chapel and dry dock thus offer different perspectives: sacred architectural history on the one hand, and shipyard and maritime history on the other.
Opened in 2022, the Musée-atelier de La Landriais showcases boatbuilding and ship restoration techniques. Workshops are available on request. Those who want to focus on crafts as well as buildings will find another cultural highlight here. The three sites represent different ways of exploring the heritage: through a chapel, the reconstruction of a dry dock, and the boatbuilding and restoration techniques on display.
Coastal Trails, Plants and Cycling Route
The Circuit de La Landriais runs along the coast of Le Minihic Sur Rance, past former shipyards and along paths through the surrounding countryside. Salt-tolerant plants can be observed on the shore along the route: sea purslane, sea blite, glasswort and sea aster. Those interested in the coastal landscape can take in the local plant life as well as the former shipyards.
The GR34C coastal trail runs along the Rance estuary by Le Minihic Sur Rance. Cyclists can follow a different route: the 38 km Vélo-Promenade-Route Émeraude Bords de Rance, which passes through the town. This means that hiking along the estuary and a 38 km cycling tour through the town are two distinct options.
Activities on the Water and Practical Planning
Fauméa Stand-up Paddle & Yoga in Le Minihic Sur Rance offers group and individual stand-up paddleboarding and Gasquet yoga classes on the shores of the sea Rance. The water excursions and paddle yoga are also accessible to beginners. Dates and booking conditions may change, so check them before planning.
Around 100 Doris boats gathered at the Fête des Doris in La Landriais in 2024. If you want to plan your visit around it, check the dates for the relevant year. For journeys to Dinard, the free Navette Rance Émeraude connects Le Minihic Sur Rance to the town via La Richardais. It runs year-round from Monday to Saturday, including public holidays. Timetables and operating conditions may change; checking the current timetable can help with planning.
