Seven kilometres of coastline and marked walking trails offer two different ways to experience the landscape of Plozevet: time on the beach and exploring on foot. There are also historic monuments and maritime culture. When planning a stay, you can give these different highlights varying emphasis rather than focusing on just one activity.

Coast, Beaches and Trails

Plozevet has seven kilometres of coastline with varied landscapes. Marked walking trails are open, and the GR® 34—also known as the Customs Officers’ Path—runs through this part of Finistère. It offers a way to explore Plozevet’s less-frequented beaches. The route is particularly well suited if you would like to combine coastal scenery with walking.

At Kerrest Beach, fine sand meets pebbles. The Menhir des Droits de l’Homme stands nearby. The beach is supervised by the SNSM from 1 July to 31 August; check the current dates before travelling. A Tiralo is available there for people with disabilities. As availability should be confirmed before your trip, it is advisable to enquire in advance.

Monuments and Maritime Culture

The Menhir des Droits de l’Homme is listed as a historic monument. It commemorates the 600 men who lost their lives in a naval battle in 1797. This specific coastal landmark thus links a historical memory with the landscape of Kerrest.

Église Saint-Demet also tells the story of a long building history: it was constructed in several phases between the 13th and early 18th centuries. The church and its churchyard were added to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments in 1951. Chapelle Saint-Ronan dates from 1720 and was restored in 1979. Saint-Demet thus represents a building history spanning several centuries, while Saint-Ronan can be placed in context by its date of construction and a later restoration.

In Pors-Poulhan, a granite statue of a Bigoudène overlooks the small harbour. Recreational fishers head out to sea in typical, brightly painted Jabadao boats. The statue and boats represent two different aspects of the place: a cultural motif and the maritime pursuits of recreational fishers.

Walks and Activities on the Water

For more trails, nearby Bois Saint-Ronan offers several walking routes, including a fitness trail. On the water, Les Enfants de la Côte – Nautisme in Plozevet offers surfing lessons, stand-up paddleboarding, fit paddling, windsurfing or funboarding, and water walking. The range includes everything from surfboard lessons to various paddle activities. Confirm that each activity is available before booking.

Planning Your Stay

Plozevet is served by BreizhGo bus line 953. There is also a shared, demand-responsive transport service available by reservation. Before travelling, check the bus timetable and the operating conditions for the reservation-only service.

The Plozevet market takes place on Friday mornings at Place de l’Église. If the market is important to your plans, check the date before travelling. The coast, trails, monuments and harbour offer different starting points for shaping your stay around your interests.
