Landunvez offers two ways to plan a trip: a hiking trail with a clearly stated distance and several cultural sites, some of which have seasonal opening hours. This lets you decide whether the Circuit de Trémazan will be the main focus or whether to give individual historic sites more prominence. The coast is another point of reference: a well-known road runs along the sea, and Landunvez offers views of the Four lighthouse.

Hiking and Coastal Scenery

The Circuit de Trémazan is a 12-kilometre hiking trail with a stated duration of three hours. It starts at the Chapelle de Kersaint, follows the former railway line to Argenton, then takes the GR 34 back along the wild coast from Penfoul to Trémazan and onwards to Kersaint. The stated three hours apply to the circuit; if you also plan to spend time at individual cultural sites, allow for that separately.

The Route touristique de Landunvez runs along a wild coast with beaches and striking rocks. Together with the coastal road and views towards the Four lighthouse, this makes the landscape the main attraction. Your plans can therefore focus on different things: a hike with a stated distance and duration, or a trip shaped by the coastal scenery.

Chapels, Historic Monument and Traces of the Past

The remains of Château de Trémazan are protected as a historic monument under an order dated 18 May 1926. The dates provide a different point of reference for the chapels: Saint-Samson dates from the 18th century, and Saint-Gonvel from the 16th century. In Argenton, on a small rise west of the Chapelle Saint-Gonvel, stands a dolmen measuring 3.20 metres long. These historic sites can thus be explored through different features: the protected status of the castle remains, the dates of the chapels and the dolmen’s specific dimensions.

When visiting the Chapelle Saint-Samson, its location on the GR 34 is not the only consideration; its opening times matter too. It is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, from Palm Sunday to All Saints’ Day and during the Christmas holidays. Seasonal opening hours can change, so check them before your visit. Saint-Gonvel is near the port of Argenton and the GR 34. In summer, the chapel is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. If you plan to visit outside summer, it is advisable to check opening times in advance.

At the port of Trémazan, a Neolithic fish trap can be discovered at low tide. Its visibility depends on the tide. If you would like to include this find in your plans, check the tides for your intended visit date. Concerts are also part of the cultural offering: the Cycle Musical de la Chapelle de Kersaint association regularly organises concerts in Kersaint. If music is of interest to you, check the event dates against your travel dates.
