Landeda combines around 15 kilometres of coastline with the Aber Benoît. When planning your stay, it’s important to consider more than just places to visit: you also need to take the tides into account when visiting islands or going mudflat fishing. There are also walking and cycling routes, historic sites and seasonal activities.

Coast, Islands and Tides

Île de Cézon can be reached on foot at low tide. Plan your visit according to the tide times, and take particular care when visiting islands that are accessible at low tide. The same advice applies to mudflat fishing: check the latest tide times.

The summer Bac an Treizh also runs to a schedule. It connects the Port of Aber Wrac’h in Landeda with the Port of Perros in Plouguerneau. Check the timetable before travelling rather than assuming this seasonal ferry service runs year-round.

Walking and Cycling Routes

The Rand’Abers 2 route starts at the Port of Aber Wrac’h in Landeda. More than two-thirds of the route follows the GR 34. If you’re planning to take this route, check its current conditions before setting off.

For cycling, the local network comprises five routes totalling 20 kilometres. These include greenways, cycle lanes and shared minor roads. The route types differ, so it’s worth checking the latest network description before setting off, as the infrastructure may change.

There are different options for walking and cycling: the GR 34 section is a specific reference point for the Rand’Abers 2 route, while the cycling network includes several types of route. For Île de Cézon, however, low tide is the deciding factor. These differences help you plan outings according to the route type and tide conditions, without assuming a specific walking or cycling time.

Historic Sites and Buildings

The fort on Île de Cézon is listed as a historic monument. Construction began in 1694 and was completed ten years later. The island thus combines a clearly dated history with the special access requirement of low tide.

Another archaeological trace can be found on Île Guénioc: it has stone mounds with dolmens, whose construction dates to around 4600 BC. The island has been listed as a historic monument since 24 September 1964. The approximate date of the dolmens and the exact date of the listing provide two different points of reference for this heritage.

The Sémaphore de l’Aber-Wrac’h dates from 1861 and is used mainly for exhibitions and cultural conferences; the programme may vary. The Chapel of Sainte-Marguerite also offers a historic landmark: it was rebuilt in 1852 near the dunes of Sainte-Marguerite. Two goémon ovens on these dunes are regularly maintained by the municipality of Landeda. If their current condition is important to you, ask about it before your visit.

The Château de Troménec includes a chapel with a rectangular floor plan, two gables and a bell turret. If you’re interested in architectural forms, you can look at this simple layout and its bell-topped roof as a specific architectural detail.

Local Produce and Seasonal Activities

Belon oysters from the Abers are sold directly at Landeda’s two ports. Availability may vary by producer and season. At Port du Vilh, oyster farmers raise Belon des abers oysters. This means direct sales at the ports and production at Port du Vilh can be understood as two different aspects of the local oyster industry.

Water sports are available at the dunes of Sainte-Marguerite; activities may vary by season. During school holidays, the CVL offers nautical outings and equipment rental. These services may also change. When planning, therefore, consider both the seasonal nature of the activities and the tides if your outing takes you to an island that is accessible at low tide.
