For a stay in Trévéneuc, you can choose between time on the coast, a hike with a specific distance and duration, and historic architecture. At Port-Goret beach, the tides shape the landscape: low tide reveals a vast expanse of sand, providing room for recreational activities in summer. This is important when planning, as the large sandy area appears at low tide.

Distinguishing the beach from the bay

In summer, football, volleyball, boules and racket sports are among the recreational activities available at Port-Goret beach. If you want to combine time by the sea with these activities, you will find a different focus here than in Saint-Marc Bay. The bay primarily serves as an anchorage for small boats. The beach and the bay are therefore not simply two similar bathing spots: Port-Goret is known for its sandy area and summer recreation, while Saint-Marc is primarily used as an anchorage.

Coastal trails and a route with a specified distance

The GR34 long-distance hiking trail runs along the entire coast of Trévéneuc. For a hike with a clearly specified distance and duration, the circular route “Les Quatre Bois – Pointe du Bec de Vir” offers a different option: a 2025 hiking guide published by the tourist office lists it as an easy 6-kilometre hike, with a stated duration of between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours. The GR34 is defined by its continuous coastal route; for the circular hike, the focus is on its distance, difficulty rating and stated duration.

Another option is the Kerpont trail, which is accessible to people with reduced mobility. This information may be decisive when choosing a route. It applies to the Kerpont trail; the GR34 and the circular route are described here in terms of other information. This lets you consider the different routes according to the criteria that matter to you: coastal scenery, stated distance and duration, or accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

Church, château and chapel in historical context

The parish church of Saint-Colomban is an 18th-century building, but it preserves an older section: the south transept arm, dating from the 15th century. Two southern side aisles were added in the second half of the 19th century. Its building history therefore comprises several clearly distinct phases, from the preserved 15th-century section to the later extensions.

The church’s location is also part of its architectural context. It stands on the axis of the Château de Pommorio. The churchyard is on higher ground and is enclosed by a wall of slate and granite masonry. The main building of the château was constructed around 1770 and extended in the mid-19th century; the château is listed as architectural heritage in Trévéneuc. The church and the château can therefore be understood through their spatial relationship and their different building phases, even though their histories do not span the same period.

The Chapelle Saint-Marc offers another glimpse into the past. It was probably built in the 15th century, altered in the 17th and 18th centuries, and restored at the end of the 20th century. The tentative dating is important: its construction date is given as probable. Together with the building phases of Saint-Colomban and the château, the chapel shows how Trévéneuc’s buildings span several centuries.

When choosing what to do, there is a clear distinction: you can experience the coast along its entire length on the GR34, while the route at Les Quatre Bois – Pointe du Bec de Vir is described as 6 kilometres long, with a stated duration. The Kerpont trail, in turn, is explicitly accessible to people with reduced mobility. If you are considering Trévéneuc as a destination, you can weigh up the beach, hiking and architectural history according to your interests, without treating any one route or activity as the standard for all.
