Couleuvre offers several distinct themes to explore: porcelain craftsmanship and historic architecture, a weekly producers’ market, and countryside and horse-riding activities. When planning your trip, you can decide whether to focus on culture, a particular market day or outdoor activities. The right dates depend on the activity in question.

Porcelain Craftsmanship and a Historic House

The Manufacture de Couleuvre casts all its pieces by hand using traditional techniques. This puts craftsmanship at the heart of a visit. The factory shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; check the opening hours again before travelling. The Musée de la Porcelaine de Couleuvre is housed in a 14th-century building known as “Charles IX”. The manufactory and museum point to different aspects of porcelain in Couleuvre: the craft itself and a museum in a historic building.

Romanesque Architecture

Another cultural landmark is the Église Saint-Julien. The Romanesque church dates from the 12th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1915. Anyone interested in architectural history will find both a clear date and a named architectural style here. Together with porcelain craftsmanship, it forms a cultural theme encompassing different periods and forms of expression.

Market Day and Market Space

The weekly producers’ market takes place every Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. It uses a covered building of 480 m² as well as an outdoor area. Its regular weekday makes the market a useful point of reference when planning a trip; check the date again before travelling. The stated opening hours for the market and factory shop overlap on Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

Bocage Countryside and Horse-Riding Activities

The Circuit de La Gaise passes through bocage countryside dotted with farms and hamlets. This brings the focus to a different side of the area than its cultural sites: its agricultural landscape and smaller settlements.

The Centre de tourisme équestre Les Verts offers horse and pony rides, as well as riding tours for riders of all levels in the Forêt de Tronçais and the bocage bourbonnais. In September and October, it also offers night rides on horseback or ponyback during the rutting season. Confirm dates before booking. The centre also offers riding lessons and courses, as well as preparation for the “galops de pleine nature” qualifications; check availability with the centre.

Seasonal Activities at the Bassin de baignade

In summer 2025, the Bassin de baignade offered supervised swimming from 1 July to 31 August, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm; it also had a paddling pool. These swimming hours apply to 2025. If you plan to swim, check the seasonal opening times before travelling. The mini animal park at the pool is part of the year-round leisure offering there. Check the current local rules before visiting.
