Discover Uzos through three distinct experiences: the Château d’Uzos and its feudal history, the Boucle de la Glandée circular trail, and the Musée des arts sucrés of Féérie Gourmande. Each offers a different focus: architectural history, landscape, and the world of confectionery. You can get to know the area through historic buildings, a circular route that starts and ends in Uzos, or collections and workshops.

The Château and its architectural history

The Château d’Uzos was built in 1268 and served as the seat of the lord of Uzos during the feudal period. Its former function connects the building with the history of local lordship. By contrast, the Eglise Saint Jacques le majeur was built around 1850. The two buildings therefore date from distinctly different periods.

The Château Chazal is considered a historic monument and is set in a 21-hectare park. A little more than half of the park is listed in the 1944 Inventaire des Horizons palois; the estate is privately owned. In clear weather, you can see the Pic de Ger across the plain from the Tour du Château Chazal. The view of the named mountain depends on clear weather.

The Boucle de la Glandée: circular trail and landscape

The Uzos–Boucle de la Glandée is a circular trail that starts and ends in Uzos. It is 7.8 kilometres long, has 325 metres of elevation gain, and is listed as taking 2 hours 30 minutes. The distance, elevation gain, and estimated time provide different ways to plan your day. As trail conditions can change, check them before setting out.

Between Uzos and Rontignon, the route follows the Voie verte before reaching the slopes. After joining Véloroute No. 81, it enters a protected area. The landscape along the loop includes plains, slopes, forests, and panoramic views. The route is therefore not just about the figures, but also about the variety of landscapes along the way.

Collections and workshop visits

The Musée des arts sucrés of Féérie Gourmande has ten themed areas and displays more than 1,000 exhibits dating from 2000 BC to the present day. Its broad time span and thematic layout give the collection a different focus from Uzos’s historic buildings: here, the subject is confectionery and how it is represented in the museum.

Féérie Gourmande also offers tours of the workshops where jams, confectionery, and chocolate are made. This lets you combine a museum visit with a look at how these products are made. A treasure hunt for families adds to the offer; the programme may change. If you plan to take part, check the latest details beforehand.

The options clearly differ when choosing what to focus on: the circular trail combines exercise with scenery and a stated duration, while the museum and workshops highlight collections and confectionery production. The châteaux and the church, meanwhile, offer insights into architectural history from different periods.
