If you are considering a stay in Souraïde, you can choose between hiking, architectural history, makila craftsmanship and leisure activities. Two routes come with specific time estimates, while the church, adventure park, swimming pool and golf course offer other attractions. Visits to Gaurko Makila are possible by appointment. Seasonal access to the Piscine de Souraide may vary, so it is worth checking the latest information before visiting.

Hiking with two different time frames

The Circuit Pinodieta circular trail is 8.88 km long, has an elevation gain of 268 m and takes about 2 hours 30 minutes. It is well signposted and suitable for families. Along the way, the route passes close to a Roman bridge, adding a historical point of interest to the route. Check local trail conditions before setting out.

A longer time frame applies to the GRP Tour du Labourd section from Souraïde to Cambo-les-Bains: it is 13 km long, takes 4 hours 45 minutes on foot and is of moderate difficulty. Check these route details again before setting off. Compared with the approximately 2 hours 30 minutes for the Circuit Pinodieta, this section is the longer hike; the moderate rating applies specifically to this route.

The church and makila craftsmanship

The Église Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur was founded in the 12th century and is dedicated to Saint James the Greater. Its single-nave church has two levels of galleries above it. A single-nave church is a long church space without side aisles. Its foundation date, dedication and layout offer different points of interest for anyone interested in church architecture and history.

At Gaurko Makila, makila-making combines tradition with new technologies. Personalisation options include a family crest, stylised initials, a company logo, or the logo of a club or another organisation. The selection therefore ranges from family emblems to designs for businesses and organisations. Visits to the workshop are possible by appointment; plan your visit accordingly and arrange it in advance.

Adventure park, swimming pool and golf

Ttiki Leku is a woodland adventure park with a picnic area in Souraïde. Facilities include mini golf, inflatable play equipment, a zip line, adventure courses and pedal karts. The park is open to families with children up to around 12 or 13 years old, as well as schools and leisure centres. The age range is deliberately approximate: it covers children up to about twelve or thirteen, rather than setting a more precise limit.

The Piscine de Souraide has two pools: a 25-metre swimming pool and a paddling pool. As seasonal access may vary, it is advisable to check before visiting. At Golf Épherra, the final nine holes are close to the village of Souraïde and offer views of the peaks of Mondarrain and Artzamendi. This information refers to the final nine holes; it does not describe the location of the entire golf course.

The options can therefore be grouped by different interests: hikes come with specific distance and time details, Ttiki Leku also caters to families with younger children, and the church and makila craftsmanship offer cultural points of interest. The swimming pool and golf course add activities of their own. Which of these is most important for your stay depends on whether you are planning to focus more on hiking, culture, play or sport.
