A guided tour at Domaine de Bouchet is only possible by prior arrangement. Viticulture, hiking trails and architectural history offer different points of focus for planning your visit to Saint-Genès-De-Fronsac: a visit to arrange in advance, a choice of hiking route and historic buildings with their own dates.

Viticulture and visits

Domaine de Bouchet is a family-run winery covering 52 hectares. Christophe Ordonneau welcomes visitors throughout the week to share the family history and his connection to viticulture. However, guided tours are only possible by prior arrangement. Being welcomed during the week does not therefore mean that a tour is available without notice. If you plan to visit, confirm the date before you arrive. The winery has been HVE 3-certified since September 2019; certification details may change over time.

In the regional setting of the Fronsadais, the vineyards follow the contours of the hillsides and extend to the floodplains along the Dordogne. The wine-growing landscape thus includes both hillside vineyards and river floodplains. If viticulture is a focus for you, this regional perspective complements a specific visit to Domaine de Bouchet with another point of view: that of a landscape extending beyond a single estate.

Hiking: starting point and route lengths

The Boucle de la Virvée starts in Saint-Genès-de-Fronsac. It is rated very easy for hiking. This rating may be revised, and route details may also change. Check the latest information before setting out if you plan to follow the route.

La Ronde des vignobles en Fronsadais is a hiking route. For the 2025 edition, distances of 6 to 62 kilometers are listed; the distances may vary from one edition to another. The route information answers different planning questions: for the Boucle, the starting point and hiking difficulty are given, while for the Ronde, the distances for a specific edition are provided. So if you first choose by distance, note that the Ronde distances refer to the 2025 edition. This comparison helps you pick out the information you need for your initial route decision without treating the different details as equivalent.

Architectural history across several periods

The stone church of Saint Genès was built in the 12th, 15th and 16th centuries. Its architectural history therefore spans several centuries and cannot be reduced to a single construction date.

At Château Gaudin, different building elements and dates sit side by side: part of the façade and all of the wine cellars are timber-framed and are believed to date from the late 18th century. The slate-roofed tower, by contrast, was added to the main building around 1910. The dating of the timber framing is expressed cautiously; the tower addition is dated to around 1910. Thus, both the building elements mentioned and the certainty of their dating differ.
