At Lindholm Strandpark, the Limfjord lies right next to the park; the water is rated as having excellent bathing quality. This specific starting point shows how water, culture and exercise offer different ways to enjoy a stay in Nørresundby.
Swimming and water sports on the Limfjord
At Lindholm Strandpark, the floating bridge is accessible to everyone. Another option is Lindholm Brygge bathing station: its bathing jetty provides safe access to the Limfjord. Water quality and swimming advisories vary over time; check the latest information before swimming.
If you are interested in activities on the water, Syrens Jolleplads offers opportunities for kayaking, SUP, using small boats and fishing. You may need to contact the relevant club to use these facilities. Tunnelhavnen is an active marina on the Limfjord in Nørresundby. The bathing spots, the small-boat area and the marina thus offer different ways to enjoy the water: swimming, a range of leisure activities and marina operations.
Church, exhibitions and history
Nørresundby Kirke was built in the mid-12th century. Since 1998, it has traditionally held KirkeKulturUge in March. Kirkens Hus also hosts art exhibitions featuring works by local artists, as well as themed exhibitions. As the exhibition programme changes, it is worth checking the latest dates before your visit.
The town’s history is also reflected in specific buildings and collections. Brohusets Kolonial is housed in the former ticket office that stood at the pontoon bridge over the Limfjord. Urtehaven first opened to the public in 1977 and contains a collection of historic stones.
At Lindholm Høje, Vikingemuseet Lindholm Høje features an exhibition about Viking life. The site is home to around 700 cremation graves from the Iron Age and the Viking Age. The exhibition and the graves offer different insights into the site: the museum focuses on Viking life, while the graves date from both the Iron Age and the Viking Age.
Trails, views and leisure activities
In Stigsborg, a path traces the old coastline. You can walk along it and take in the fjord landscape. From Stigsborghøjen, you can enjoy views of the Limfjord and Stigsparken. Syrestien runs through Stigsparken and then continues along the Hærvejsruten to Hammer Bakker. To get to Stigsborg, city bus route 16 connects the area with Nørresundby Midtby, Aalborg Midtby and City Syd. As bus routes may change, check your connection before travelling.
For a single leisure activity, Skansen has a 220-metre-long zip line with a drop of 26 metres. Availability may change; check in advance whether the activity is being offered. Svømmeland offers something different: facilities include a 50-metre pool, 1- and 3-metre diving boards, warm indoor and outdoor wellness pools, and a sauna. The availability and operation of these facilities may also change; check before your visit.
