A small forest with unusually tall mountain pines lies close to the holiday homes in Bjerregård. The town is in the southern part of the narrow spit of land between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord. The coast, forest, walking trails and art each offer a different focus for planning your trip.

Coastal setting and nature

The coast off Bjerregård is narrow and dynamic; just beyond the low-water line, the seabed drops steeply. The sea off Bjerregård is wild and unpredictable. There are good surf spots near Bjerregård, around Ringkøbing Fjord and in the direction of the North Sea coast. The coastline and surfing opportunities offer different points of reference: the description of the coast applies to Bjerregård itself, while the surf spots are also in the surrounding area.

The small forest near the holiday homes is home to unusually tall mountain pines. They form a shelterbelt that protects the trees behind them from wind and weather. The forest also has a nature activity area with space for play and activities. Alongside the dynamic coast, you can choose to explore a forest with its own protective role or a place for play and activities as distinct nature experiences.

Walking trails and culture

A walk in Bjerregård takes you through a small plantation towards the beach, along the sea for a while, and back across the heath. A detour to Bjerregård Havn is also part of the route. This way, the route links several types of landscape with a specific destination at the harbour. The sculpture trail in Bjerregård Plantation was inaugurated on 20 June 2020.

Galleri Skippergården is housed in a Klitgård dating from 1877 and also showcases the historic farmstead. Paintings and prints feature subjects such as the beach, harbour, dunes and other nature experiences. Ceramics, woodturning and watercolours by other artists are also on display. Art and the history of the farmstead offer two distinct cultural points of connection: the landscape as a subject, and the historic building with its associated farmstead.

Water activities and practical information

There are good surf spots for water sports near Bjerregård, around Ringkøbing Fjord and in the direction of the North Sea coast. Bjerregaard Camping offers direct access to Ringkøbing Fjord from the campsite; it has its own beach there and rents out canoes and SUP boards. While the surf spots are in the surrounding area, access to the water and equipment rental are services offered by this campsite.

Bjerregård Havn Shelterplads has a service building with toilets, water facilities and showers, and is open seasonally. Along with the detour to Bjerregård Havn on the walking route, it adds practical facilities to help you find your way around the harbour. Plan your stay around your preferred focus: the narrow, dynamic coast; the trails through the plantation and heath; art and the history of the farmstead; or the water sports facilities specifically available at the campsite.
