Glostrup brings together walking and running trails, forest and wetland landscapes, art and churches. The routes vary in length, making it easier to choose a suitable outing; in Ejby Mose, there is also a trail with nine stations and recurring nature activities. The cultural programme offers several perspectives on the area, from outdoor bronze sculptures to film, theatre and concerts.

Walking Trails and Landscapes

Hjertestien is laid out in a figure eight and can be divided into two loops of 2.2 and 4.1 kilometres. Connecting the two makes a 6.3-kilometre route. At around 16 kilometres, Glostrup Kunstrute is considerably longer; shorter 6- and 9-kilometre options are also available. Kløverstien adds four themed routes of 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 17 kilometres, passing various sights. The routes can therefore be distinguished mainly by their length and, in the case of Kløverstien, by their themes.

The landscape also offers a variety of scenery. Vestskoven has hills, large open areas and lakes, as well as a diverse range of wildlife. One-fifth of Glostrup Municipality consists of this forest area, which covers 1,400 hectares in total. Near Oxbjerget is Hundeskoven, a fenced-off part of Vestskoven where dogs may be walked off leash. A fire pit and picnic shelter are about 200 metres from the parking area on Oxbjergvej.

Ejby Mose and Its Nature Activities

Ejby Mose is a mosaic of lakes and wetlands, along with larger areas that are partly open and covered with grass, scrub and small woods. The area was inaugurated as a new recreation area in 1975. The Natureventyr trail follows a 1.5-kilometre route with nine stations and takes about 45 minutes. It is suitable for everyone. The trail starts at the scout hut near Ejby Hallen, Mosetoften 37, 2600 Glostrup.

Naturens Dag takes place every year in Ejby Mose. Grøn Guide organises the event together with local beekeepers, scouts, archers and Danmarks Naturfredningsforening. Visitors can observe the moor’s fish up close. Those interested in fishing may do so in Ejby Mose with a valid fishing licence and in accordance with the applicable rules.

Art and Church History

Eight bronze sculptures in Byparken form a small sculpture park. They are among the nine sculptures donated by the artist Anders Tinsbo’s widow. For another glimpse of art, visit Glostrup Station, where 39 paintings on the platform depict culture, nature and everyday life in Glostrup.

The churches also offer specific historical points of interest. Østervangkirken was inaugurated on 19 April 1970 and was the first round church built in Denmark since the Middle Ages. The medieval Glostrup Kirke was originally built from unworked and split fieldstones. Its oldest bell was cast by bell founder Laurids Madsen in 1558. The newer bell dates from 1708 and was recast in 1848.

Theatre, Film and Events

There are several options for theatre enthusiasts: Glostrup Amatørscene has two stages at Leragergård. Glostrup Bibliotek hosts six to eight children’s theatre performances each year; the programme may change. In addition to premiere releases and 3D films, Glostrup Bio screens opera films and concerts and hosts other events. Glostrup Kulturhus holds concerts there every year, featuring music from various genres and local and national bands.

Lun Lørdag is also a seasonal event series at Glostrup Fritidscenter: from September to April, it combines a concert, cafÊ and art exhibition almost every month on the first Saturday. Glostrup Kulturfest brings together music, theatre, art and street culture; Rüdhusparken offers activities and experiences for children and adults. As event dates and individual programmes change, it is worth checking the specific dates before visiting.
