Dolni Becva lies in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids below Mount Radhošť. The northern boundary of the cadastral area follows the ridge of the Radhošť Beskids; the district boundary also runs there. For trip planning, the combination of hiking trails to Radhošť, sports activities, local history and regional products is particularly appealing. Dolni Becva is a starting point for hiking trails to the mountain.

Hiking, cycling and sports

If you enjoy hiking, you can plan to use Dolni Becva as a starting point for trails to Radhošť. At Radhošť, a statue of the pagan god Radegast and a chapel dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius are among the sights visited by tourists. The two structures offer different cultural perspectives: one is a figure from pagan tradition, while the other is a chapel with a Christian dedication.

Cyclists also have a specific route to follow: cycle route No. 6260 Bečva runs through the Rožnov Valley and Dolni Becva. Another sporting option is the Valašský golfový klub. Its complex is located within the municipality’s cadastral area; the club operates a public nine-hole golf course that can also be used without a golf proficiency certificate. There are also two tennis courts on the grounds. The sports complex by the Bečva also has a beach sports center. These activities differ in focus, so when planning your trip you can choose according to your preferred activities.

Winter activities and mountain architecture

The Pod Kaplí ski slope is on the northwest side of Radhošť in the Průsek area and is 447 meters long. The ski lift has a capacity of 450 people per hour; its operation depends on snow conditions. So if you are planning a winter visit and intend to use the lift, check the current snow conditions. In winter, groomed cross-country ski trails run from the Mír chalet via Pustevny to Martinák. Pustevny is also known for the picturesque wooden buildings designed by architect Dušan Jurkovič.

Downhill skiing and cross-country skiing are different options for a winter stay: for Pod Kaplí, the slope length and lift capacity are specified, while the cross-country trails are described as a route passing through several named places. Which option suits your trip therefore also depends on the type of winter sport you plan to do; for the lift, snow conditions are an additional factor.

Churches, chapels and local buildings

Dolni Becva itself also has historical and architectural points of interest. The parish Church of Saint Anthony of Padua was built and consecrated in 1907. In the Horní Rozpité valley, there is a brick chapel with a bell, built in 1848. A wooden bell tower is also among the town’s architecturally interesting buildings. Dolni Becva also has buildings featuring traditional folk architecture.

The construction dates help place the local buildings in historical context: the chapel in the Horní Rozpité valley dates from 1848, while the parish church was built and consecrated in 1907. Together with the wooden bell tower and buildings featuring traditional folk architecture, these offer several distinct themes for exploring the town’s cultural heritage.

Regional specialties and events

There are two different places to go for regional food. VKP operates a factory outlet in Dolni Becva, selling sausages and traditional butchery specialties directly from the producer, as well as fresh pork, beef and chicken. Check the sales arrangements before visiting. At the marked VALAŠSKÉ DOBROTY stalls, visitors can sample Wallachian specialties such as sheep’s cheese, Korbáčiky and Frgál; the availability of individual products may vary.

Another culinary event is the recurring tasting of homemade sauerkraut among neighbors. The fourth edition took place on January 24, 2026; another edition was announced for January 2027. If you plan to travel for the event, check the dates in advance. This distinguishes the recurring event from the specific edition that has been announced.

Getting there and planning your stay

Bus route 762 runs from Rožnov pod Radhoštěm via Dolni Becva toward Pustevny. The timetable is valid from December 14, 2025, to December 12, 2026. If you plan to use the bus, check departures for your travel date within this validity period.

Possible trip highlights include cycle route No. 6260 Bečva, sports, culture and regional specialties. For a winter trip, snow conditions at the lift are also a factor; for bus travel, the timetable information is key. An event date may also affect your plans. This lets you choose Dolni Becva based on the activities and conditions that really matter for your stay.
