A 3.3-kilometre educational trail leads through Boršice u Blatnice to the Kostel sv. Kateřiny church. The village also has a house with exhibitions on everyday culture and recurring local traditions. For your planning, it is worth looking at two distinct areas of interest: trails through nature and history, and the village’s cultural monuments and customs.
Nature and trails
The Přírodní památka Nádavky natural monument lies within the cadastral area of Boršice u Blatnice, about one kilometre north of the village. It protects rare heat-loving plant species and the only occurrence of yellow flax in the Uherské Hradiště District outside the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area.
The Naučná stezka Přírodou a historií Boršic educational trail is 3.3 kilometres long. It starts at Motorest U Hložků and ends at the Kostel sv. Kateřiny church. The trail is also connected to the cycle route in the direction of Hluk. Check the signs and trail conditions locally before planning your route.
The Strážnická vinařská stezka wine trail also leads in the direction of Hluk, but follows a different route: it branches off here and passes through Boršice u Blatnice. The educational trail has a stated length, start and end point; the wine trail is described as a branch that passes through the village. If you are cycling, check the current route markers.
Church, history and local customs
The Kostel sv. Kateřiny church is a protected cultural monument. The present building was constructed in 1788 as a single-nave late Baroque church with a four-sided tower. The church is also the endpoint of the educational trail, bringing the route description and the history of the building together at a named location.
Another part of the village’s history is the Boršický kancionál. It was written and decorated in Boršice u Blatnice from 1727 to 1733 and is considered evidence of the development of Moravian national ornamentation.
Kateřinské hody is a recurring local tradition. The programme includes a procession in traditional costumes, dance music and a mass at the Kostel sv. Kateřiny church. Dates may vary from year to year; check the relevant announcement if you would like to plan your visit around it.
An insight into traditional everyday culture
The Dům lidových tradic, a restored building dating from the late 19th century, is located in the oldest house in Boršice u Blatnice. Its three exhibition sections showcase traditional homes, folk costumes and a traditional black kitchen.
The black kitchen has equipment for cooking fruit preserves and drying fruit. It is designed for processing local produce such as apples, plums and pears. The kitchen exhibits thus complement those on homes and costumes with a specific aspect of everyday regional culture.
Visits to the Dům lidových tradic are possible by prior telephone appointment on 725813817. Book in advance and confirm your visit by phone.
Events and music
Boršický fašank is a recurring local procession tradition. The procession starts at the fire station, followed by music at the village pub. Programme details may vary between editions. Here too, it is advisable to check the dates for the relevant year before travelling.
The modern Víno Zlomek & Vávra winery in Boršice u Blatnice has been part of the Hudba na vinicích open-air concert series since 2023. Specific concert dates and performers are subject to change. You can therefore include the series as another cultural point of interest in your plans and check the dates in advance.
