There are several different ways to discover Suchá: the Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands in the village square, a yellow-marked hiking trail passes through the village, and woodland areas extend into parts of the area. Other features include the Jihlávka River, a cycle route along the northeastern administrative boundary, and the history of the Stonařovsko region, which is featured in an exhibition in Prostředkovice. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Suchá, first consider whether your main interests are culture, hiking, cycling or the landscape.
Village Square and Hiking Trail
The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands in Suchá’s village square and is listed as an immovable cultural monument. Its location and protected status give the village square a clear cultural significance. The yellow-marked hiking trail from Špičák to Brtnice, which passes through Suchá, offers a different way to explore the area. The chapel and the trail represent two distinct perspectives: a cultural site within the village and a hiking route that passes through Suchá between two named places. This distinction is useful for finding your way around when planning a stay in the area.
Landscape and Regional Orientation
The Jihlávka River flows through the built-up area of Prostředkovice, along the eastern boundary of Suchá, and then northward to the east of Beranovec. Its connection to Suchá is the eastern boundary of the area; it flows through the built-up area in Prostředkovice. Extensive woodland areas reach into the northeastern part of Suchá, and especially into its western part. The river’s linear course and the woodland areas located mainly in the west, and also in the northeast, therefore represent different landscape features.
The marked cycle route 5215, designated as the Luka nad Jihlavou–Luka nad Jihlavou circular cycle route, runs along the northeastern edge of the administrative area. By contrast, the yellow-marked hiking trail passes through Suchá, while the cycle route runs along the edge of the administrative area. Road I/38 also helps locate the region geographically: it passes through Suchá and Prostředkovice and connects Jihlava with Znojmo. The river, hiking trail, cycle route and road are different routes that can be considered separately when planning.
Regional History in Prostředkovice
Since 2023, the Renaissance granary in Prostředkovice has housed a permanent museum exhibition about the history of the Stonařovsko region, particularly Suchá, Prostředkovice and Beranovec. The exhibition also covers the history of the Imperial Road from Prague to Vienna, on the section between Jihlava and Znojmo, as well as geology, mineralogy and mining. The visit therefore brings together local history, a historic road connection, and geological and mining topics.
The exhibition is open to the public by prior arrangement only, and the building is currently being renovated. Please arrange your visit in advance. This allows you to include the attraction in your itinerary with the necessary advance booking.
Events and Swimming
Music events are held at “Jackova stodola” in Beranovec. On 19 July 2025, summer events with a humorous twist were held for the tenth time at Hostinec U Štrofů. The original idea dates back to 2015, when it began as a small Christmas party in August. These details provide two distinct points in time: an event in 2025 and the earlier idea from which the format developed.
In the area around Suchá, ponds are located near Zadní Pouště; Durchák is considered suitable for swimming. Check local conditions again before swimming. This allows swimming to be considered as a separate focus alongside the cultural and landscape attractions.
