Cycling route No. 16 passes through Brzkov on its route from Slavonice to Přibyslav; a green-marked hiking trail runs along the western edge of the cadastral area between Polná and Přibyslav. The two routes focus on different areas. Other points of interest include a chapel with several historical reference points and named landscapes featuring a pond, valley, stream corridor and bodies of water. When choosing Brzkov, you can plan your stay around culture, cycling or hiking, and your interest in nature.

The chapel and religious landmarks

The “Kaple sv. Jana Nepomuckého” chapel in Brzkov was consecrated on 13 May 2012. Its earliest surviving documentary mention dates from 1831. The dates therefore mark two different reference points: 1831 is the earliest surviving written record, while 2012 is the date of consecration. The year of the mention should not be confused with the date of the consecration. The “Skalka 2009” civic association acted as the builder; the chapel was built by volunteers, who contributed more than 4,000 working hours.

Brzkov also has a metal cross on a shaped stone pedestal. At its base is a relief of Our Lady of Sorrows. The pedestal and relief highlight something different from the chapel’s history: here, the focus is on the design of a single religious landmark. If you would like to attend a service during your visit, check the current service schedule: the schedule, updated on 6 March 2026, lists services in the chapel every three weeks on Thursdays at 18:00. Check the date before travelling.

How the cycling and hiking routes differ

Cycling route No. 16 passes through Brzkov and forms part of the route from Slavonice to Přibyslav. For the hiking trail, the key geographic reference is the western edge of the cadastral area, where the green-marked route runs between Polná and Přibyslav. This distinction is useful for planning: the cycling route is defined by its course through the village and its endpoints, while the hiking trail is identified by its location along the western edge of the area. This can help you decide which section is relevant to your outing without combining the two routes into one. Check the current markings and conditions before setting out; this is especially important for the green trail marking.

Pond, valley and landscape corridors

The Mastník pond lies south of Brzkov. The Jablonský potok valley is notable for a different aspect of the landscape: it is rich in habitats and is home to specially protected species. The corridor along the Skrýšovský potok is another distinctive landscape area. The Vampolím area lies on the Bystřice River and contains two of the most significant bodies of water in Brzkov’s planning area. These natural features also differ in form: a pond, a habitat-rich valley, a stream corridor and bodies of water by the river. They give you several specific points of reference if you would like the landscape and water features to shape your stay.

Plan a stay that suits you

First, consider whether the chapel, the cycling route, a hike along the western edge of the cadastral area, or one of the landscape features matters most for your trip. This will help you choose based on what you actually plan to do and include Brzkov’s different points of interest in your plans.
