A fortress on a gentle rise, an 18th-century chapel and a cycling route through the village: Patokryje offers several points of interest for a visit. It is also located between the right bank of the Srpina stream and Zlatník Hill, at the edge of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. Depending on your interests, you can focus on historic buildings, the surrounding landscape or cycling.

Fortress, chapel and stone reconciliation cross

Patokryje Fortress stands in the north-western built-up part of the municipality, on a gentle rise above the pond. Its regular rectangular layout, several floors and corner turrets define its shape. The fortress was first mentioned in 1397. This is the year of its first recorded mention, not necessarily the year the structure described today was built.

Another historical landmark is the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk. The municipality built it with the support of the estate’s owners, the Lobkowicz family of Bílina; it was completed in 1741. The fortress and the chapel thus represent different chapters in the village’s history: a first recorded mention is documented for one, while a completion year is known for the other.

The stone reconciliation cross is another distinctive local feature. It is listed as a cultural monument and stands in the foundation of the fence surrounding the U Křížku inn. The cross bears the registration number 0350. A carved motif is still visible; it may depict a chalice with a host or a face. These are alternative interpretations of this particular feature of the cross.

Location between stream, hill and protected landscape

Patokryje lies at an altitude of 221 metres between the right bank of the Srpina stream and Zlatník Hill. It is also located at the edge of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. These details provide a sense of Patokryje’s setting, distinct from its historic buildings: here, the riverbank, hill and proximity to the protected area take centre stage.

Cycling route and getting around

A signposted cycling route passes through Patokryje. Its route is Most – Rudolice nad Bílinou – Patokryje – Korozluky – Zaječice – Polerady – Lišnice – Most. It is suitable for parents with children. The sequence shows Patokryje as part of a connection linking several named places; the route also explicitly passes through the municipality. If cycling is important to your trip, you can make this route a focus of your plans.

Two road connections should be distinguished when finding your way by car. A Class III road passes through Patokryje and begins at the nearby I/13 expressway. This expressway connects Most with Teplice and Ústí nad Labem; the Class III road ends in Lužice. This makes it possible to distinguish the road through the village from the connection between the three cities.

Events and practical information

Patokryjská vlna is a recurring summer event; its 16th edition was announced for 2026. If you are planning your visit around an event, check the dates for your preferred travel period.

A restaurant is located on the upper floor of the municipal building in the village centre, at house number 138. If you plan to visit, check before travelling whether the restaurant is open and currently operating. Another point of interest is “Nová voda Patokryje”, which is designated as a non-trout fishing ground. This may interest you if fishing is one of your travel interests.
