Radonice nad Ohří brings together a historic church hill above the Ohře, literary history and a signposted cycle route. The village is part of the municipality of Peruc in the Louny District. During your stay, you can combine church art and a view of the rectory with a cycling stage of your choice, without assuming that this is a formally organised tour.

A Neo-Gothic church on a medieval site

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross stands in the historic centre on a slight rise above the river. It occupies the site of a medieval church, but the present building dates from 1905 to 1907. František David of Louny is named as its architect and builder. The site’s history and the present building therefore belong to different periods.

The free-standing, single-nave masonry building combines pseudo-Gothic design with Neo-Romanesque elements. The heritage register describes the interior as almost unchanged, with its original furnishings and plant and figure paintings. These are specific reasons for art-historical interest. However, any visit inside must be arranged around current visiting opportunities.

Distinguishing the cemetery from the statue of Saint Linhart

The church cemetery is noted for its many old Czech gravestones, including those of clergy. The Baroque statue of Saint Linhart, also known as Leonard, stands outside the enclosed church grounds. It is described as being at the north-western foot of the church hill, below the stone cemetery wall.

Literature dates the statue to the first half of the eighteenth century. Its location helps distinguish it from the church, which was built later. Plan a respectful visit and observe permitted access rather than inferring from the heritage register that the cemetery is freely accessible.

Boleslav Jablonský and the rectory

The Late Baroque rectory stands north of the church. A plaque above its main portal commemorates Boleslav Jablonský. The Premonstratensian, whose birth name was Karel Eugen Tupý, served as a chaplain in Radonice from 1843 to 1847 and was known in his day as a patriotic poet.

The connection between the building and the poet’s life offers a distinct way to explore the village. This does not confirm that there is a public memorial inside. In particular, the rectory’s historic use does not mean that it is now an open museum or that a guided tour is available.

Choose a cycling stage and accommodation that suit your plans

Signposted Cycle Route 202 passes through the village on the Peruc–Stradonice–Radonice nad Ohří–Slavětín–Louny route. This sequence of places describes a connection, not a short loop around the church hill. Choose your section based on the actual route and your own fitness.

An older description of the village also mentions a railway stop on the Lovosice–Postoloprty line 114, less than one kilometre south of the village centre. Check current connections separately. Choose accommodation by its exact address and your confirmed arrival point; church opening, cycling stage and overnight stay must each fit your own day’s plans.
