Lančov combines nature-based recreation at the Vranov Reservoir with a late Romanesque parish church, a historic farmstead in the surrounding area, and opportunities for cycling and swimming. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for your stay, you can plan your trip around these different interests: nature, architectural history or recreation by the water.

Water Landscape and Orientation

The cadastral area of the municipality of Lančov lies on the right bank of the Vranov Reservoir. Lančovská zátoka, a significant nature recreation area, is located in the southeastern part of the area. Road III/39813 leads from the centre of Lančov towards the holiday cottage area by the reservoir. From the turn-off to Lančovská zátoka, it continues as a local road. This route provides guidance for travelling towards the bay. Check local access conditions before setting out.

Two Distinct Natural Areas

Spálená is a 3.0738-hectare natural monument, first designated on 15 January 2014. The area protects xerothermic shrub communities containing stands of Cotoneaster species (Cotoneaster spp.) and is part of the Natura 2000 network of protected areas. A distinctive plant community is the focus here.

Tisová stráň offers a different perspective on nature. It lies two kilometres north of Lančov, on steep slopes on the right bank of the Dyje Valley. The north-facing woodland is highly varied in species and age. European yew occurs there naturally, and perennial honesty grows in the herb layer. Spálená and Tisová stráň therefore differ in character: xerothermic shrubs define the natural landscape at the former, while woodland structure and the named plant species characterise the latter. The best way to reach Tisová stráň is directly from the Dyje River or via the riverside path. Check the local terrain conditions before setting out.

Church and Cultural Landscape

The Church of St Mary Magdalene in Lančov is a late Romanesque building dating from the early 13th century. Luitgardin dvůr, a manor farmstead founded in 1841, lies close to Lančov and Vranov nad Dyjí. It is of historical, urban-planning and architectural value, contributes to the character of the surrounding cultural landscape, and serves as a landmark. The church and farmstead represent distinct cultural and historical features: sacred architecture in Lančov and a historic farm in the surrounding landscape. The church dates back to the early 13th century, while the farmstead was established in 1841.

Cycling, Traditions and Swimming

The “Cyklistický okruh Vranovskem” cycling route passes through the Lančov area, running from Vysočany towards Vranov nad Dyjí. Raising and felling the maypole has been a tradition in Lančov for many years. Stříbrná zátoka in the Lančov area is another leisure option, offering a quiet place to swim. Trip planning can therefore include a named cycling route and a local tradition alongside nature, architectural history and recreation by the water.
