Rousínov offers several well-defined themes for a culturally focused stay: Baroque architecture, traces of Jewish life, and a monument commemorating an episode from 1769. If you are looking for a hotel in Rousínov, you can take these interests into account when planning your visit; the bus station and regional connections are also useful for getting around. The following information covers buildings, historical associations, and access options to help you decide which themes you would like to focus on during your stay.

Baroque Churches and Chapel

The Kostel sv. Maří Magdalény is a Baroque church built between 1699 and 1706 to a design by the Italian architect Domenico Martinelli. In the district of Rousínovec, the Kostel sv. Václava was completed in 1734. The Kaple sv. Floriána was built between 1727 and 1728 in honor of Saint Florian, the city’s protector against fires. The buildings therefore have different historical associations: Martinelli’s design is noted for the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, the chapel is dedicated to Saint Florian, and the Church of St. Wenceslas is associated with the district of Rousínovec.

Regular Sunday services are held at 7:30 a.m. in the Kostel sv. Maří Magdalény. If you plan to attend, check the current service time before your visit, as it may change.

Jewish Heritage and a Walking Route

The former synagogue in Rousínov was built as a simple structure in 1591 and is now used as the Sbor Cyrila a Metoděje of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. The interior can be visited during services. Arrange access with the religious community in advance, as visiting arrangements may change.

The “Zákoutí židovské čtvrti v Rousínově” walking route leads to places associated with Jewish life in Rousínov. It also includes a newly created path along the wall of the Jewish cemetery. The cemetery itself is closed to the public for safety reasons, but the gravestones can be seen from the path. This lets you include the view from outside in your walk without entering the cemetery. Check the access arrangements again before your visit.

A Historic Monument and Its Location

The Pomník orby císaře Josefa II. u Slavíkovic commemorates an event from 1769: Emperor Joseph II plowed a furrow near Slavíkovice. The monument stands on the road out of Rousínov in the direction of Brno, on the left side of a first-class road. A visit adds a specific historical reference to the religious buildings and sites associated with Jewish life. If you plan to visit the monument, take note of the stated road location and direction.

Getting There and Bus Connections

The bus station in Rousínov has eight stops: two for long-distance bus routes, four for regional bus routes, and two for local bus routes. This breakdown gives an overview of the different types of routes serving the station. Since December 19, 2005, regular IDS JMK bus and train services have operated in the Rousínov area on routes 107, 602, 631, 730, 731, and 732. Routes and timetables may change, so check current connections and departure times before traveling, especially if you are coordinating your arrival or a visit to a service.
