The church complex, municipal outdoor swimming pool and walks in Dražovice Grove each offer something different. There are also two recommended cycling routes: one passes through Dražovice and Větrník, while the other is designated as a circuit through several towns. If you are weighing up architectural history, swimming or outdoor activities, Dražovice offers several specific themes to consider when choosing a destination. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide which of these interests you would like to shape your stay.
Church and Parish History
The Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist was built in 1888–1889 on the site of an older church. Antonín Cyril Stojan served as parish priest in Dražovice from 1888 to 1908 and completed the church during his tenure. The anniversary of the church’s consecration is observed on 25 August, commemorating its consecration on 25 August 1889. Construction, completion and consecration therefore took place within a clearly defined period, while Stojan’s time as parish priest extended well beyond it.
The earliest written mention of the parish dates from 1382; the local priest Gracius is recorded there for that year. The Baroque rectory below the church was built in 1792. The dates represent different milestones: 1382 relates to the parish, 1792 to the rectory, and 1888–1889 to the church building. This makes it possible to distinguish the history of the parish from the building history of the church.
The church grounds form a heritage complex comprising the cemetery, perimeter wall, gate, wicket gate and a double-flight staircase. The complex therefore includes other features of the church grounds as well as the church itself. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1900, also stands in Dražovice.
Outdoor Swimming Pool with Two Pools
Koupaliště Dražovice is a public outdoor swimming pool with two pools, operated by the Municipality of Dražovice. The main swimming pool measures 44 × 19 metres and is 2.75 metres deep. Facilities for children include a children’s pool, a paddling pool and a slide. Two car parks are located close to the facility. The different pool areas are therefore a key feature: the large main swimming pool and the separate facilities for children.
Walks and Cycling Routes
Dražovice Grove is suitable for walks and connects with the groves of Letonice and Němčany. An outdoor stay is therefore not limited to the recommended cycling routes; walks in the grove are another option specifically mentioned. The groves of Letonice and Němčany are explicitly named as an extension of Dražovice Grove.
The two recommended cycling routes differ in their total length and designated route type. Route 1 passes through Dražovice and Větrník and is 28.4 kilometres long. Route 7 is a 58.6-kilometre circuit connecting Vyškov, Dražovice and several surrounding towns. Route 7 is therefore slightly more than twice as long as Route 1; it is also explicitly designated as a circuit. Route length and this description of its form offer two specific criteria for comparison.
