In Neslovice, sacred architectural history, the Patočkova hora natural monument and trails with different focuses come together. There is also the Indian Playground on Žleby Street. You can therefore explore the area through its culture, protected landscape and outdoor activities.
Church, Chapel and Pilgrimage
The parish Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a late Baroque building dating from 1782 to 1784. In the second half of the 19th century, it was extended with the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. The church thus reveals two distinct building phases: the late 18th-century structure and the later addition.
Another sacred building stands in the centre of Neslovice: a bell tower with the Neoclassical Chapel of Saint Gotthard and Saint Florian, dating from the early 19th century. Together with the parish church, these provide several concrete starting points for a cultural and historical look at the area, although the buildings do not date from the same period.
The pilgrimage celebrating the Nativity of the Virgin Mary takes place on 8 September and is called “rozmarýnové hody”. If you are planning your visit around this occasion, check the latest programme details in advance.
Patočkova hora and Protected Nature
Patočkova hora is a natural monument directly above the road at the entrance to Neslovice from the direction of Tetčice. Remnants of the former steppe vegetation, particularly the large-flowered pasqueflower, have been preserved within a designated area of one hectare. The area has been maintained since 1984. From Patočkova hora, the view extends across more than half of the municipalities in the Kahan microregion. Its protected status, remnants of vegetation and views give the summit both botanical and scenic significance. Check local access conditions in advance when planning a specific trip.
A smaller piece of natural and cultural heritage is the Neoclassical wayside shrine “Boží muka”. It stands about one kilometre southeast of the edge of the village, beside the road towards Hlína. The approximate distance, compass direction and road reference help distinguish this location from the buildings in the village centre; however, they do not indicate a walking time.
Trails and Outdoor Activities
The Stezka permoníků (Gnome Trail) runs through Neslovice and Kratochvilka. It then continues to the right towards the historic educational trail “Naučná stezka Rosickou historií”. Check the route and signage before setting out. The directions thus link two distinct points of reference: the route through the two named villages and the continuation to the educational trail about the history of Rosice.
A different route description applies to the path between Neslovice and Tetčice. The section from Neslovice passes through pastures and includes a cow shelter. As trail conditions can change, check them before setting out. The routes described therefore already differ in their stated features: for the Stezka permoníků, the focus is on the villages and the onward connection to the educational trail; for the route towards Tetčice, it is on the pastures and cow shelter.
The Indian Playground is on Žleby Street in Neslovice. It includes a large play area with various play features, a training area, a skateboard ramp and a rope centre. The facilities offer different forms of play and exercise in one place. Individual pieces of equipment may change; if you are planning a visit to the playground, check the current facilities beforehand.
These options offer a choice of different themes for planning your visit: architectural history and pilgrimage, the protected summit with its plant remains and views, or the trails and outdoor activities described above. Which one shapes your stay depends on whether you are primarily looking for culture, scenery or outdoor activities.
