A vertical climbing wall with around twenty routes of moderate difficulty, a Late Gothic granary and the Volyňka Valley give Radošovice a range of distinct features. You can choose what to focus on: climbing, architectural history or cycling by the river. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for a stay in Radošovice, this distinction can help you plan your trip around your own interests.

Climbing at Radošovické skály

Radošovické skály lies beyond Radošovice, beside the Strakonice–Volyně railway line, and is a small climbing area. Around twenty routes of moderate difficulty run up the vertical wall; conditions may change. If climbing is a focus of your stay, check the condition of the routes before your visit. The rocks can be reached from Radošovice station or Přední Zborovice station. Check services at your chosen station before travelling by train.

Farm complex and local history

The farm complex at čp. 9 is central to the area’s architectural history. It is listed as an immovable cultural monument, including its ramparts and the site of the former fortress, under number 15583/3-4342. The former fortress site is a raised area about 70 metres in diameter, surrounded by a wall. Traces of a rampart can be seen in places beneath the masonry.

The Late Gothic granary is the most valuable part of the farm complex. Dendrochronological dating places the lower part of the granary shortly after the middle of the 15th century. Radošovice belonged to the Hospitallers of Strakonice from 1243 until the end of the 18th century. The distinctive architectural complex and its long period of historical affiliation offer two different perspectives on the place.

The Volyňka: valley and cycle path

At Radošovické Podskalí, the Volyňka and the surrounding rocks form a picturesque valley. In the western part of the Radošovice area, a designated cycle path runs along the Volyňka between Strakonice and Volyně. The river features in two ways here: as part of the valley scenery at Podskalí and as a guide for the cycle route. This distinction can help you choose between cycling and climbing: the cycle route follows the river, while the climbing area is at Radošovické skály.

Getting there and practical planning

A railway stop on the Strakonice–Volary line is located in the southern part of the municipality. From Strakonice, you can reach Radošovice by the train known as the “Volyňka”, on foot or by bicycle via the Volyňka cycle path. Radošovické skály is beside the Strakonice–Volyně railway line and can be reached from Radošovice station or Přední Zborovice station. When planning, distinguish between the railway stop in the southern part of the municipality and the stations that serve as access points to the rocks. Check train services before setting out, especially if you are planning your visit around a particular station.
