An architectural exploration of Květov begins in the village square: on its north side is a large farmstead with a mighty barn. A different architectural form is represented by the ensemble of three farmsteads. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century after the 1904 fire, by master mason František Luza. The façades display Neo-Renaissance style and elements of Czech rural Baroque. The details can therefore be understood in terms of their scale: on the one hand, a farmstead with a barn; on the other, a group of three farmsteads. The two examples differ in scale and in how they are described: the farmstead is characterized by its size and location in the square, while the ensemble is distinguished by the number of farmsteads, the period when it was built, and its façade styles.
Architectural History and Timber Architecture
The Tyrolský dům was built in 1810/11 in the so-called Alpine style, which is considered an unusual architectural style in Czechia. Several details of the building need to be distinguished precisely. The other walls are built using log construction and clad with shingles with rounded tips. There is also a wooden gallery that runs all the way around the house and is accessed via an external wooden staircase. The description therefore brings together style, wall construction, shingle cladding, and the gallery that encircles the house. This is useful for architecture enthusiasts: the Alpine style indicates its classification, while the log construction, shingles, and gallery describe specific architectural features.
The architectural details can also be compared by their focus: the façades and period of construction are central to the three farmsteads, while the Tyrolský dům is distinguished by its style and timber-building details. Those interested in architectural forms can thus distinguish between façade design and construction. The buildings also date from different periods: the Tyrolský dům was built in 1810/11, while the ensemble of three farmsteads dates from the beginning of the 20th century.
Nature and Routes
One distinctive natural feature is the Rukávečská obora. It protects a fragment of original acidophilous woodrush-beech forest. Alongside the architectural history, the protection of a specific forest type provides a different focus. If you also take protected forest habitats into account when choosing a destination, you can include this natural feature in your considerations.
The route details also answer different planning questions. For the 2026 edition, stage 25 of the Vltava Run runs from Květov to Kostelec nad Vltavou. This identifies the start and finish of the stage; because routes can change between editions, it is worth checking the details for the relevant edition when planning your trip. The Velký Písecký okruh is a mountain biking route through the Písek region. While the Vltava Run information focuses on a specific stage and its endpoints, the other name identifies a route associated with mountain biking and the Písek region. This distinction helps you choose according to your activity, without treating both as the same kind of tour.
