Rodvínov invites you to take walks and stay by the banks of small ponds. The area around the municipality brings together natural attractions and remarkable structures: the Jindřišské Valley and the Jindrova educational trail offer different ways to explore the landscape, while the bridge, wayside shrines and narrow-gauge railway reflect the history of the Jindřiš district. When planning your visit, it is worth keeping these highlights distinct: a walk around the ponds is different from the 11 km themed trail or a search for individual cultural monuments.

Ponds, Forests and the Jindřišské Valley

The picturesque surroundings of Rodvínov are ideal for walks and a pleasant stay by small ponds. The forests around the village also invite you to relax; they are rich in mushrooms and forest berries. This description of the landscape leaves room for a stay that is not tied to a specific route. If you prefer to plan a specific walk, the Jindrova educational trail offers a clearly defined longer option.

The 9.3-hectare Jindřišské Valley lies southeast of the municipality. Gorge forests, fir stands and relict pines shape the valley; protected plants, fungi and animals are also found there. This makes it a distinct nature-focused attraction during a stay in Rodvínov. The area and habitats described give the valley a different scale and character from general walks by the ponds.

Planning the Jindrova Educational Trail

The Jindrova educational trail follows the Hamerský stream from Jindřichův Hradec through Jindřiš and onward through the Jindřišské Valley. It then runs through Blažejov and Dvoreček to the Ratmírovský Pond; the total length is 11 km. This makes it possible to plan the hike as a distinct outing rather than equating it with a short walk. Check the route details before setting out.

The trail also provides information about the Hamerský stream and its surroundings. There are currently 21 information boards, each of which also includes a section for preschoolers and younger schoolchildren. These additional texts offer a separate way to engage with the subjects covered by the boards, without changing how the route should be understood: its course and length remain the main points of reference when planning.

Bridges, Wayside Shrines and Railway in Jindřiš

In the Jindřiš district of Rodvínov, a Baroque stone bridge crosses the Hamerský stream. It was built around 1856 and is listed as an immovable technical monument. A statue of St John of Nepomuk stands on the bridge. At the same time, it remains open to motor traffic—its historical significance and this function coexist.

Before Jindřiš, at a crossroads by the bridge over the Hamerský stream, stands a wayside shrine dated 1667. Another wayside shrine is located in Jindřiš at the turn-off to the railway; it is listed as a cultural monument and bears registration number 32543 / 3-1956. Their locations distinguish the two: one is before Jindřiš at the crossroads, the other by the railway turn-off in the district.

The Jindřichův Hradec–Nová Bystřice narrow-gauge railway is also part of the area's technical heritage. It has two stops in Jindřiš and is regarded above all as an important technical monument. If you are planning a specific train journey, check the timetable in advance; the number of stops alone does not tell you which connections are suitable.

Another part of local history can be found in Rodvínov itself: the wooden bell tower houses the “sv. Prokop” bell. It was cast in public on the village square from 14 to 16 August 2015. These dates refer to this historic event, not to a regularly recurring event.

Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests

When planning, you can decide whether to focus on the landscape, the 11 km educational trail or the architectural and technical monuments. The route details help you treat the trail as a distinct part of your itinerary; the ponds and forests, by contrast, are suited to walks and relaxation, with no circular-route distance specified here. In Jindřiš, the bridge, wayside shrines and railway offer different historical points of interest. If you plan to take the train, check the timetable; for the educational trail, it is a good idea to review the route details before setting out.
