Ceské Velenice brings together a range of interests: roller sports and play at the RAMPY complex, architecture and furnishings at the Church of St Agnes of Bohemia, and the historic Pamětí Vitorazska educational cycling route. Other options include rides on a replica of a historic trolleybus and events at the Česko-rakouské komunitní centrum FENIX. The attractions range from a dedicated sports facility to a 90-kilometre cycling route. When planning your trip, you can choose a focus based on whether you are interested in exercise, church architecture or a cross-border cycling route.

Roller sports and play at the RAMPY complex

The RAMPY complex offers several distinct activities. On the pump track, riders build up speed by shifting their weight on bicycles, scooters, skateboards and inline skates, without pedalling. There is also a concrete skatepark of just under 600 m² for non-motorised roller sports. The pump track is defined by its riding technique, while the skatepark is distinguished by its specific area, construction and use for roller sports. The playground is primarily intended for younger children. It has a soft safety surface and 3D play equipment that helps children improve their motor skills and balance.

Church of St Agnes of Bohemia

The Church of St Agnes of Bohemia is a modern-style building designed by Prague architect Pilc. It was built by architect Staněk of Trhové Sviny and solemnly consecrated on 22 December 1935. The design and construction are attributed to two different architects, offering a specific way to explore the building’s history. One distinctive feature of the furnishings is the stained-glass window in the apse of the presbytery, which depicts St Agnes of Bohemia. The image reflects the church’s name and adds a precisely identified detail to the view of its architectural style.

Pamětí Vitorazska: a cross-border cycling route

Pamětí Vitorazska is a 90-kilometre historic educational cycling route with 29 points of interest. Information boards provide opportunities to learn and relax, giving the route an educational focus in addition to its length. The circular route usually runs from Nové Hrady through Gmünd in Austria and across the border to Ceské Velenice. It therefore combines a historical educational trail with an explicitly cross-border itinerary. This offers a different kind of cycling experience from RAMPY: there, the focus is on dedicated roller-sports areas; here, it is on a longer route with stops and information boards.

Maps, rides and events

Tourist maps and cycling maps are sold at the Ceské Velenice Tourist Information Centre. When choosing what you need for navigation, you can distinguish between general tourist maps and maps specifically for cycling. Another option is to take a ride on a replica of the historic TMG 1907 trolleybus. Rides can be booked, but availability may vary. Check whether booking is possible if you want to include a ride in your plans.

The Česko-rakouské komunitní centrum FENIX was created through the complete renovation of a former cinema building. Various events are held there. The building’s history as a cinema is thus paired with its current use as an event venue. If you have a particular event in mind, check the dates before your trip.
