Kvítkovice lies in the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area and offers several distinct points of interest for a stay, including a pond, trails, and historic buildings.

Landscape and Waterways

The Kvítkovický rybník is located in the upper reaches of the Dehtářský potok. The fish-farming pond covers 25 hectares, combining a specific size with a clearly stated use. Together with Kvítkovice’s location in the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area, this gives the area a strong connection to its landscape: the pond is a local landmark, while the protected area provides the wider setting. Those interested in the surroundings will find not only the name of a body of water, but also information about its size and function.

Routes by Mode of Travel

Hiking trails run through the Kvítkovice area, and there is also a bridleway. Cycling routes Nos. 1194 and 1092 meet in Kvítkovice. This means the area caters to different modes of travel, without implying that they form a single route or circular trail. For planning purposes, note the distinction: a trail through the municipal area is specified for both hiking and riding, while for cycling, a specific meeting point for two numbered routes is given. As route numbers can change, check them locally before setting out on a bike ride.

Chapels and Local History

A Baroque roadside chapel at the crossroads towards Habří and Dubné dates from 1730. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary, St Joseph and St Adalbert is Pseudo-Gothic and was built in 1902. The dates are 172 years apart. Together with their different architectural styles, they offer a concrete comparison of the village’s religious architecture: a Baroque roadside chapel and a later Pseudo-Gothic chapel whose dedication is expressed in its name.

The first written references to Kvítkovice date from 1263, well before the two chapels mentioned above. The forge is also part of the village’s history: it is designated a cultural landmark, and the historic forge dating from 1823 is now used as an inn. Here, historical significance and present-day use meet in a single building.

Farmsteads and Mill

The original structures of the Kvítkovice farmsteads have largely been preserved. Their gable ends face the village green. This arrangement draws attention to the structure of the village: the traditional village scene is shaped not only by individual buildings, but also by their orientation towards the shared village space. For travellers interested in rural architectural history, this offers a different perspective from looking at individual chapels or historical dates.

The Nový mlýn mill stands below the dam of the Kvítkovický rybník. Its original waterwheel and millrace have been preserved. The building is used for leisure and is not a regular visitor attraction. This places it in the context of local history without implying that a visit or access to the building is possible.
