The municipal area of Hlincová Hora includes archaeological sites and silver-mining monuments. Cycling and hiking routes with different features also run through the area: some connect places, while others follow a nature trail or pass through a landscape used for day trips. Visitors choosing Pfaffendorf as a destination can therefore distinguish between route descriptions by their course and subject matter.

Cycling routes with different characteristics

The cycling route between Hlincová Hora and Rudolfov has a natural surface. A municipal planning description from 2011 described it as having been in operation since 2009. The significant intermunicipal cycling route 1096 also runs through the area of Hlincová Hora. Its described corridor leads from Rudolfov via the Mrhal pond, Zvíkov, Vlkovice, Libín, Spolí and Domanín to Třeboň. The information provides two different points of reference: the surface is specified for the cycling route between the two places, while route 1096 is described by its significance and the full sequence of places named.

The routes also differ on foot in their markings and content. A red-marked KČT hiking trail runs through Hlincová Hora between Mrhal and Dubičné. The “Rudolfovo město” mining nature trail also passes through the area and partly follows the cycling route. This means a marked hiking trail and a mining-themed nature trail are available as distinct options and should not be treated as a single route.

Nature trails and mining history

The information boards along the “Cesta kolem hornického města” nature trail provide a comprehensive overview of the beginnings, development and decline of mining in the Rudolfov region. The trail can be followed from the cycling route via Rudolfov to the Mrhal pond. This makes it possible to explore the region’s history along a route that includes the named places and the pond.

Another nature trail is called “Rudolfovo město”. A footpath at Pramen Pod Lustenkem connects its two branches; a register entry for this path was last updated in 2014. The names are easy to distinguish: “Cesta kolem hornického města” refers here to the overview on the information boards and the described route via Rudolfov to Mrhal, while the connection at Pramen Pod Lustenkem concerns the two branches of “Rudolfovo město”.

A municipal description from 2011 records that hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders use the unmarked local roads and paths; in good snow conditions, they are also suitable for cross-country skiing. This use is therefore tied to the description at that time. For planning purposes, these unmarked paths differ from the explicitly red-marked KČT trail and the named nature trails: they are characterised by the user groups and the snow conditions, not by a single marked route.

Pond, forest and historical traces

The Mrhal pond and the neighbouring forest areas are used for day trips. Traces of artificial drainage ditches from earlier times can still be seen in the Děkanské lesy. The landscape thus adds a specific historical detail to the route themes: alongside mining, evidence of earlier drainage work in the forests has also survived.

Another testament to the past is the Dvůr Lusteneck Farm. It has retained its original form to this day and is considered an important witness to turbulent times. Together with the archaeological sites and silver-mining monuments in the municipal area of Hlincová Hora, the farm offers a different way to explore history than the nature trails: here, the focus is on surviving buildings and historical remains, while the trails highlight the development of mining in the Rudolfov region.
