Nevid offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: a long local history, the ZSO Mydlná archaeological site south of the village, cultural events, and two routes that follow different paths. For your planning, it is worth distinguishing historical questions from today’s trails and events. This can help you decide whether local history, archaeological remains, a cultural event, or outdoor activities will be the focus of your stay.

Nevid is set in a picturesque landscape surrounded by forests. The forests shape the scenery, while the named trails provide specific points of reference for hikers and cyclists. If you are more interested in the landscape than the historical sites when planning your trip, this distinction can be a helpful starting point for making your choice.

Local history and historical connections

Nevid was first mentioned in 1227. From 1587 to 1848, the village belonged to the Šťáhlavy estate. Its name probably derives from the personal name of one of the first settlers. The first written mention, the probable origin of the name, and the village’s later affiliation with an estate offer different perspectives on its history.

The former village comprised eleven homesteads and an estate inn. Kamýk Fortress was also located near Nevid; it had certainly been abandoned by the end of the 16th century at the latest. These historical points of reference add to the village’s story by illustrating the settlement’s former size and a nearby structure.

ZSO Mydlná south of Nevid

The important ZSO Mydlná archaeological site lies about 1,300 metres south of Nevid. It comprises a late medieval fortress, an abandoned complex, and a settlement. Access and conservation conditions may vary; check these details before visiting.

Culture, hiking, and cycling

Various cultural events are held in a hall with 130 seats at a local inn in Nevid. This is a specific cultural option if you would like to combine your stay with a local event. The venue and programme may change, so check locally before planning your visit around them.

There are two different options for outdoor activities. A yellow-marked hiking trail maintained by the Czech Tourist Club runs through Holubí Kout in the northeastern part of Nevid’s planning area. The T1 cycle route leads southeast from the Nevid settlement to Kamínky. For the hiking trail, the marking and the section of the planning area are useful reference points; for the cycle route, the route number, starting point, and stated direction are helpful. This makes it easy to distinguish between the marked hiking trail and the cycle route to Kamínky when planning your day. Check current trail conditions; for the cycle route, also check the signage and surface in advance.

Plan your journey

Nevid is connected to the district town by bus. Routes and timetables may change; check the current timetable if you plan to use this connection.
