Radčice can be explored through two distinctive themes: the use of stone and the historic architectural character of the village. The Cesta kamene, a geological outdoor exhibition about rocks, is located at Zámeček Radčice. At the heart of the conservation area is a small triangular village square, lined mostly with large farmsteads and with a village chapel in the centre. When planning a trip, it is not just a single building that matters; the layout of the village centre also shapes the character of the place.

Cesta kamene and the geology of Radčice

Through its stone objects, Cesta kamene explores the connection between human history and the use of mineral resources, particularly in art, crafts and construction. The educational area includes benches, an information board and a signpost. So it is not just about looking at rocks: their use by people is also a central theme. As local access arrangements may change, check them before visiting.

Kozí pec offers a different perspective on stone. The small rock pyramid lies in a Carboniferous rock formation. The two themes are easy to distinguish: Cesta kamene shows how people use mineral resources, while Kozí pec represents a geological formation. Those interested in rocks will therefore find both a cultural-historical and a natural-history perspective in Radčice.

Village square, farmsteads and chapels

The centre of the conservation area is laid out as a small triangular village square. Mostly large farmsteads line the square, with a village chapel at its centre. This spatial layout offers a different scale from the stone exhibition: here, the village centre can be seen as an ensemble. A substantial part of Radčice’s historic building stock dates from the 1830s.

The pilgrimage chapel of Panny Marie Matky Boží milosti stands in Kyjovský les in Radčice. An oak trunk is built into the chapel—a specific architectural detail that offers another perspective on the building alongside its location and religious function. The village square, farmsteads and chapel thus highlight different aspects of the village’s history.

Walking trail, spring and rock formation

The green-marked walking trail to Radčice is complemented by Viktorka Spring; Kozí pec and the chapel of Panny Marie Pomocné are also associated with this walk. Studánka Viktorka was restored in 2013 at the site of the original spring. This connects the walk with a specific route and a dated history of the spring. Kozí pec adds a geological feature, while the chapel of Panny Marie Pomocné provides another cultural point of interest.

For planning purposes, it is helpful to keep these themes separate: the trail is marked in green, the spring was restored at its original site, and the rock formation is described as a small pyramid in Carboniferous rock. No specific visiting time is prescribed; you can plan around your interests in walking, geology and local history without combining these features into a fixed itinerary.

Getting there and places to rest

Zámeček Radčice can be reached by trolleybus 11 to the Pod Zámečkem stop. This stop is served only on request. If you plan to use this connection, check the current route and the service arrangements for the request stop before travelling, as transport services and stop arrangements may change.

A municipal description from 2018 mentions two resting places with benches and a bicycle rack for six bicycles on the trail between Malesice and Radčice. If you plan to rely on these facilities today, check their current status beforehand. When choosing accommodation and planning your day, you can take into account whether your focus is on visiting Cesta kamene, the village centre or going for a walk, without assuming a particular route or length of stay.

A historical trace from 1945

After being recovered from the water in October 1945, a bell was rehung in the tower of the Radčice cemetery chapel, where it remains to this day. Its story adds that of a single object to the history of the buildings: while the village’s architectural history can also be traced to the 1830s, the bell commemorates a specific event from October 1945.
