Nový Kramolín brings together Baroque heritage and distinctive landscape features. There are also hiking trails, paved paths for short breaks and a connection to Postřekov designed for several types of recreational use. You can therefore choose different focuses for your stay: local history, natural features or outdoor activities.
Baroque Art and Local History
The late Baroque sculpture group Sousoší Nejsvětější Trojice is located in the garden of the Nový Kramolín kindergarten and dates from 1766. Its plinth is made of granite, while the ensemble itself is made of sandstone. The chapel at the edge of the village in the direction of Vlkanov is dedicated to Saint Wenceslas. It was built in the Baroque style in the 18th century and later modernized. The village also has a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.
The religious heritage varies in form: in addition to the chapel, local history includes a single statue and a sculpture group. The dating and different materials of the Trinity group also provide a specific reference point for placing the ensemble in context.
Historical Traces
Until 1786, Nový Kramolín belonged to the Pivoň estate of the Augustinian monastery; afterwards, the municipality came under the Poběžovice estate. The Valtířov monument stands on the site of the former village of Valtířov and was built from granite, metal and wood in the 1990s. The change in estate affiliation and the monument's location represent different historical connections: the changing rule on the one hand and the site of a former village on the other.
Landscape and Natural Features
A rocky outcrop with a cross is the dominant landscape feature of Nový Kramolín. A protected quartz ridge lies both within the village and in its cadastral area. A natural pond was renovated in 2008 and equipped with new pools. On a broader geographical scale, part of the municipality lies within the Český les Protected Landscape Area and the Český les Nature Park. Thus, individual features such as the rocky outcrop, quartz ridge and pond are complemented by a protected-area designation that covers part of the municipality.
Routes and Activities
Hiking trails run through the western part of the municipality. Paved paths provide access to the surroundings of Nový Kramolín for short breaks. The pedestrian and cycle route between Nový Kramolín and Postřekov connects the two municipalities and is intended for pedestrians, cyclists, inline skaters and other users. The project for this connection was completed on 14 March 2025.
The routes differ in location and purpose: hiking trails run through the western part of the municipality, paved paths are for short breaks, and the connection to Postřekov is intended for several user groups. In the direction of Vlkanov, a water reservoir is used for swimming. If swimming is important to your stay, please check in advance whether it will be possible at your chosen time.
