Wetlands, an Elbe oxbow and clearly described routes give Hrobice a natural profile with several distinct points of interest. The Tůň u Hrobic natural monument protects an oxbow of the Elbe; Baroch, an important ornithological site, lies south of the village. There are also two cycle routes with different connections, a yellow-marked route along the western edge of the village, and a museum in the Lovecký zámeček building. If you are looking for accommodation in Hrobice, you can plan your stay around your preferred mix of nature, outdoor activities and culture.
Nature: Elbe oxbow and wetland
The Tůň u Hrobic natural monument covers 2.8809 hectares and was first designated on 12 May 1982. It protects an oxbow of the Elbe together with its bank vegetation and significant plant and animal communities. The natural value described therefore includes not only the water body, but also its bankside vegetation and the communities living there.
Baroch lies south of Hrobice. It is an important ornithological area with wetland habitats, reed beds, endangered amphibians and a free-ranging population of wild horses. The Baroch protected area preserves a pond that has now largely silted up, surrounding meadow and forest communities, and extensive reed beds. It also includes marsh meadows with numerous endangered and critically endangered plant and animal species. Unlike Tůň u Hrobic, the focus here is not an Elbe oxbow, but a heavily silted-up pond with wetland, meadow and forest habitats. The two natural areas can thus be distinguished by their different water bodies and habitats.
Cycle routes and route descriptions
There are two named cycle routes to distinguish. Cycle route 4124 passes through Hrobice on its way from Pardubice to Opatovice. Cycle route 4126 connects Hrobice with Hrobický dvůr and Bažantnice. The first places Hrobice on the route between Pardubice and Opatovice; the second connects it with the two other named places. These different reference points can help you choose a route based on your planned destinations. Before setting off, check the current signage and surface conditions for both cycle routes.
A yellow-marked route from Stéblová also runs along the western edge of Hrobice, around the Baroch protected area and through Kunětický Forest, below Kunětická hora. Its description therefore lists a sequence of points of interest along the western edge of the village: Baroch, the forest and the area below the hill. Unlike the two cycle routes, the focus here is on the route through this named landscape. Before setting off, check the current route, conditions and markings.
Culture in Hrobice
The Lovecký zámeček building is now home to Perníková chaloupka and the Muzeum perníku. This gives visitors a specific cultural point of interest alongside the natural areas and routes. Check the latest access and opening information before planning a visit.
The traditional Pohádkové putování was scheduled for Saturday, 5 September 2026, from 2 p.m. at the Hrobice municipal sports ground, and was intended for children and adults. Check the specific event details for future dates.
