Lozice stretches along both banks of the Novohradka stream. A three-arched stone bridge, other notable buildings and a variety of routes give visitors clear points of interest. Those looking to get active can choose between a route with exercise stations, a 9 km circular trail and cycle route 4119, which passes through Lozice. Easter traditions belong to a different category of planning: the detailed schedule refers to 2026.

Stone Bridge and Townscape

The stone bridge was built in 1886, has three arches and is a protected cultural monument. It is also a special stop on the “S Divišem za výhledy” circular trail: the route passes through Lozice, where walkers can visit the old bridge. The bridge may have replaced an earlier ford over the Novohradka. This is one possible interpretation of its history, not a confirmed explanation.

The townscape also includes the Evangelical church, considered an architectural landmark of Lozice. The Baroque entrance gate at house no. 16 is listed as an architectural and sculptural monument. The bridge, church and gate illustrate different aspects of the town’s architectural history: a stone structure, the prominent church building and a Baroque gate with its own heritage significance.

Exercise Stations and Routes

The Daňkova silácká stezka runs through Lozice and is also known as the Silácká stezka or Daňkova stezka. It has five stations with exercises for balance and the abdominal and arm muscles. This is a different kind of activity from the “S Divišem za výhledy” circular trail: it is 9 km long and suitable for trekking and cross-country cyclists as well as walkers. This offers a choice between a route focused on specific exercises and a longer circuit on foot or by bike.

Cycle route 4119 between Lovětín and Pardubice also passes through Lozice. Together with the circular trail, it offers another point of interest for cyclists; each route has its own course and description. The circular trail is also an option for those who prefer to walk. The old stone bridge connects the townscape with a stop along this route.

Easter Traditions with a Year-Specific Schedule

Vrkání and Jidáš were revived in Lozice in 2026 as a local Easter tradition. They are rooted in a long-standing cultural heritage custom; the interruption in 2025 is also part of this more recent history. During the Vrkání documented in 2026, children walked through the entire municipality at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., visiting every house. Each round took about an hour.

During the 2026 Jidáš procession, participants walked through Lozice. The straw costume was symbolically burned in front of the local inn. The times listed and the approximate duration of each round describe the 2026 event and may vary in later years. If you are planning an Easter visit for another year, check that year’s dates.

Playground and Night Game

The modernised children’s playground has swings, a carousel, a play ship, a slide and climbing equipment; there is also covered seating. Alongside the buildings and various routes, it provides another specific place to visit in the town.

Around All Souls’ Day, the municipality of Lozice and the volunteer fire brigade regularly hold the night game “Bludičkování”. This recurring event in the annual calendar is distinct from the Easter activities described in detail here, which specifically refer to 2026.
