Cycling in and around Krchleby

Cycling route 6203 starts in Krchleby and leads via Pobučí towards Jestřebíčko. At 8 km long and rated “easy to moderately difficult,” it provides a clearly defined reference point for planning a cycling tour. Cycling route 6234 runs through the village along the Jahodnice – Krchleby – Bušínov – Lupěné route. Its description lists a sequence of places, whereas route 6203 specifies its length and difficulty level. By considering both options, you can weigh whether a route with a stated distance or a named sequence of places is more helpful for your plans.

In the surrounding area, quiet roads lined with long avenues of cherry trees make pleasant routes for cyclists. This complements the numbered routes with a description of the character of the roads. There is a rest area for cyclists with an information board in the centre of Krchleby. As road conditions and facilities on site may change, check the latest conditions before setting out.

Landscape and hiking

Krchleby lies in a hilly, partly wooded landscape. The terrain in the surrounding area is suitable for moderately difficult cross-country skiing outings; however, its suitability in season may vary with snow conditions. For winter planning, current snow conditions are therefore a separate factor to consider alongside the terrain rating.

Historic columns featuring a group of figures representing the Holy Trinity mark the hiking trail from Mírov to Krchleby. The columns combine trail markers with a religious depiction, giving the route a cultural point of interest. Another hiking option starts beyond Krchleby, where a trail branches off from the road to Pobučí towards the settlement of Dolní Bušínov, 1.5 km away. The settlement is also known by the local name Bozéňov. Dolní Bušínov is a well-known recreation area offering opportunities for sports and swimming in the local reservoir. As recreational facilities may change, check what is currently available before your visit.

Local history and culture

The historical record goes back to 1273: Krchleby is mentioned together with Bušínov in historical sources in connection with the episcopal seat of Mohelnice. In the surrounding area, several attempts were made to mine iron ore and graphite in the mid-19th century; limestone was also quarried and burned to produce lime.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from 1920 and stands on the road from Mohelnice towards Maletín. A coarse-grained sandstone cross featuring a figure of Christ bears the year 1857 as the year the monument was created. The monument to the victims of the First World War in Krchleby was erected in 1928. Together, these construction dates span the years 1857 to 1928.
