Two numbered cycling routes and a green-marked hiking trail pass through Jedlí. Other attractions include the late Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist, small monuments, and nature sites in Březná Nature Park. A stay can therefore combine different interests: routes through the surrounding area, insights into the village’s history, or a trip timed to coincide with the spring bloom.

Plan cycling routes, hiking, and your journey

Cycling route 6228 runs through Jedlí and connects Štíty with Zábřeh via Václavov, Svébohov, and Růžové údolí. Cycling route 6229 also passes through the village, connecting Cotkytle with Čečel via Horní Studénky. This route is described as having frequent ascents and descents, as well as varied scenery. When choosing routes, you can therefore also take this profile into account, along with the places mentioned.

The green-marked hiking trail runs from Zábřeh through Na Horách, Václavov, and Křížové hory, passing through Jedlí on its way to Štíty. This gives you separate options for cycling and hiking outdoors. The route descriptions differ: for cycling route 6228, the focus is on the connection and the places along it, while route 6229 is also noted for its undulating terrain. Surfaces can change, and local signage may also change. It is therefore a good idea to check the current condition of the routes and markings before setting out.

There is also a useful point of reference for planning local transport: Jedlí has six bus stops. Their 500-metre walking catchment covers a large part of the built-up area. If you are planning a specific bus journey, check the current routes and departure times in the timetable.

The church and traces of local history

The single-nave late Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1786. Its interior has five altars. During a major renovation in 2012, the masonry was dried, among other work, and the floor, lighting, and interior paintwork were also renewed. The church in Jedlí was first mentioned in 1411. Records state that it was burned down in 1633 by members of non-Catholic denominations.

Other historical details can be found at various locations in the village. The wayside shrine bears the inscription “J. E. P. 1860” on the back of its plinth and was listed as a protected cultural monument in May 1958. The Holy Trinity Column is a sculptural group made of sandstone, about five metres high, and is associated with the year 1773. The cemetery also contains an intriguingly designed Empire-style tombstone from 1819, attributed to the Wachler family.

The village school is also part of local history: it was built in 1832 with a donation from Prince Liechtenstein. Together, the church, wayside shrine, column, tombstone, and school offer different points of interest for a history-focused walk. These are not only architectural features, but also specific recorded dates and details such as the inscription on the wayside shrine or the church’s five altars.

Březná Nature Park and spring flowers

In Březná Nature Park, the Březná and Moravská Sázava rivers form striking, deep, symmetrical valleys. At the end of March, carpets of the legally protected spring snowflake appear in wet meadows around Jedlí, Horní Studénky, Drozdov, and the settlement of Na Horách. The flowering time varies from year to year, so a nature-watching trip cannot be guaranteed for a fixed date.

A historical find from 1961 in the cadastral area of Jedlí involved the rare, strictly protected round-leaved sundew. Along with the spring snowflakes, this detail shows that the area’s natural attractions can be explored both seasonally and through records of species found here. For trip planning, this offers a clear distinction: the spring snowflake bloom is a seasonal attraction, while the valleys in the nature park are a landscape feature in their own right.
