Císařov can be explored from two specific perspectives: the historic layout of the village and its buildings, and marked cycling route No. 5042, which connects Prostějov and Přerov via Císařov. In the northern part of the village, visitors can see a cascade of ponds with protected animal species along this route. The village’s history and its connection to the landscape thus offer distinct starting points for choosing a destination.
Founding and Settlement Layout
Císařov was established in 1785 as a new village with 50 building plots. The name Joseflust was originally intended for the village. Its historic settlement layout can also be described precisely: it consisted of two rows of houses facing each other, at an equal distance from one another throughout, and running from northwest to southeast.
The founding year, number of plots, and orientation shed light on different aspects of the village’s origins: when it was established, the scale of the layout, and the direction of its settlement pattern. The rows thus complement the founding details with a spatial perspective on the Císařov laid out at the time.
Farmstead and Sculptures
Farmstead No. 45 is listed as a cultural monument in Císařov and is a rural building dating from the late 18th century. The single-storey residential building has a covered passageway and an annexe for retired owners. Its façade facing the village square is decorated with original plaster stucco. The farmstead can therefore be understood in more detail through its architectural form, passageway, and façade decoration. In a rural context, an annexe for retired owners refers to accommodation provided for the former owners in their retirement.
The statue of Saint Anne with the Virgin Mary and Child stands in the village square in front of House No. 6. This monumental late Baroque sculpture is dated 1795. Its location, style, and date provide different points of reference: the village square locates the work in the village, while its style and year place it in art history. The statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, erected in Císařov in 1900, offers a different chronological reference. The two sculptures thus represent different historical milestones: 1795 is the date assigned to Saint Anne with the Virgin Mary and Child, while 1900 marks the erection of the Lourdes statue.
Cycling Route and Pond Landscape
Marked cycling route No. 5042 connects Prostějov and Přerov via Císařov. In the northern part of the village, visitors can see the cascade of ponds with protected animal species along the route. The connection between the towns and the landscape site in the north offer two different points of reference for planning: the route between the towns and a specific stretch in Císařov. Císařov is part of the Haná landscape.
If you are planning a cycling trip, check the current route and trail conditions in advance. The route is marked, but trail conditions can change, so it is a good idea to check before setting off.
Which focus suits your stay?
Two different questions can help you choose a destination: Are you mainly interested in the historic layout and sculptures, or would you like to factor a marked cycling route and a landscape feature such as the pond cascade into your plans? These focuses give you a concrete basis for deciding whether Císařov suits your stay before you look for a holiday apartment.
