Fryčovice lies on both banks of the Ondřejnice River. Several distinct themes can help you plan your trip: the medieval Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, cycling along Route No. 6006, the Obora Sovinec educational trail, and the sports and leisure facilities at the FRY Relax Centre. This lets you choose where to stay according to whether you are especially interested in architectural history, routes, or exercise and relaxation.

Church and Local History

The stone Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built between 1335 and 1345. It is the oldest stone church building in the Frýdek-Místek District and a protected cultural monument. Its construction, date of origin and protected status offer different points of interest for anyone interested in historic religious buildings. The Frýdek-Místek District provides the geographical context for its designation as the oldest stone church building; at the same time, the church remains a specific cultural and historical landmark in Fryčovice. This gives the town a clear historical focus alongside its routes and sports facilities.

Cycling and Walking

Cycling Route No. 6006 follows existing roads from south to north through the centre of Fryčovice. The signed route also forms the Olešná–Hukvaldy–Brušperk–Olešná circuit and passes through the town. Both details help with orientation: the north–south alignment describes the route through the centre, while the circuit places Fryčovice within a sequence of named places. You can therefore take both the route through the town and the wider circuit into account when planning your cycling trip.

The Obora Sovinec educational trail is intended for leisurely walks. From the town centre, it heads west to the Sovinec game reserve and then continues to the neighbouring villages of Kateřinice and Trnávka. This gives the route a clear sequence of starting point, destination and onward route. The town centre is also a reference point for the cycling route, which runs south to north through the centre. The two routes can be distinguished by their direction and purpose: one is a cycling route on existing roads, while the other is an educational trail for leisurely walks with a western destination.

At 354 metres, Sovinec is the highest point in Fryčovice and is currently used as a game reserve where a herd of white-tailed deer is kept. The educational trail’s destination therefore brings together a specific elevation, the game reserve and its animal population. Visitors who want to include routes and nature in their choice of destination will find another distinct point of interest here, in addition to the church’s history.

Sports and Leisure at the FRY Relax Centre

The FRY Relax Centre has a relaxation pool with two counter-current systems, a water jet and a bubble feature. The facilities also include a squash court with a glass back wall and spectator area, as well as a badminton court open to the general public. After using the sauna, visitors can cool off in an outdoor pool. The centre therefore brings together water facilities, racquet sports and a place to cool off after a sauna. If you do not want to plan your stay solely around the church and walking routes, the centre offers a separate focus for exercise and relaxation.

Plan a Stay That Suits You

Fryčovice offers several clearly distinct ways to spend your time there: the church’s architectural history, the cycling route through the centre and the circuit, the trail to the game reserve, and the sports and leisure facilities at the FRY Relax Centre. You can then choose a holiday apartment to suit your own plans without combining cycling, walking, culture and sports into a single itinerary.
