The elongated settlement along the Kružský potok, the history of the village cinema and the timber architecture offer several specific perspectives on Kruh. The centrally located Koupaliště is another feature. To plan your visit, you can first decide whether the village character and terrain, cultural history or swimming complex best match your interests. One date to note is the traditional Adventní podvečer in late November.

Settlement Pattern and Terrain

The buildings are scattered, and the settlement follows the Kružský potok and the Class III road between Roztoky u Jilemnice, Kruh and Mříčná. The stream and road connection are therefore as much a part of the village character as the municipality’s elongated form.

Kruh lies at an elevation of 410 to 480 metres in a very elongated, relatively enclosed area. Nearby sightlines and terrain horizons shape this landscape character. If you want to understand smaller places through their settlement pattern and the relationship between buildings and terrain, these features offer a specific starting point: the municipality is shaped not only by individual buildings, but also by its spatial form.

Cinema and Advent Tradition

The history of Kino Kruh dates back to 1924, when it was part of a cinema network in the First Czechoslovak Republic. Following its digitisation in December 2016, the cinema gained a larger screen and a 7.1 sound system. The cinema auditorium is heated. If you are planning a film night, check in advance which screenings are currently available.

The traditional Adventní podvečer has been held regularly in Kruh in late November since 2007. The programme includes, among other things, exhibitions of nativity scenes and old baking moulds. This event provides a specific cultural reason to visit in late autumn. As exact dates may vary, check the date for your travel year before setting your itinerary.

Timber Architecture and Archaeological Traces

Tuláčkův statek is an impressive timber-built farmstead with a Baroque gable. It was once the residence of a factor. At Statek čp. 1, the focus is on late Baroque folk architecture of the Podkrkonoší region, log construction and decorated gables.

The archaeological site Tvrziště u čp. 67 lies on a triangular spur above the Kružský potok and comprises two masonry buildings. Its location and architectural structure offer a different starting point for exploring local history than the farmsteads and houses described above.

The Koupaliště and Your Plans

Koupaliště Kruh is located in the centre of Kruh u Jilemnice. Its artificial pool is filled with drinking water. The Koupaliště has a snack stand, toilets, changing rooms, a children’s playground and a volleyball court. If you plan to use the complex, check in advance whether the facilities you particularly need are available.

When looking for a holiday apartment in Kruh, you can start by choosing your travel dates: if the Adventní podvečer is the reason for your visit, check the exact date in November. If you are travelling independently of the event, choose between the village character, architecture and Koupaliště according to your interests.
