The marked hiking trails in and through Bítouchov vary in length, route and viewpoints. Rock galleries above the Jizera, a single high viewpoint and a historic structure in the village each add a different highlight. For navigation, both the connections between the places and individual stops along the way matter; in Semily, there is also a crossing over the Jizera.

Riegrova Trail: metal galleries above the Jizera

The red-marked Riegrova Trail connects Semily, the Bítouchov district and Spálov and is 5.5 km long in total. Its forest section begins beyond Bítouchov with 77-metre-long metal galleries set into the rock above the Jizera. The galleries lie above the river; farther along the trail, several rocky viewpoints offer views of the Jizera Valley and the surrounding natural landscape. At the galleries, the trail construction is the defining feature; at the viewpoints, it is the view of the valley and landscape. The route also passes through the Galerie Natural Monument and the Údolí Jizery Nature Reserve.

Kamenický Trail: six rocky viewpoints

The yellow-marked Kamenický Trail is 3 km long and offers six rocky viewpoints. From the signpost at Morava, it passes Medenec on the way to Bítouchov; from there, the red-marked route continues to Semily. With its six rocky viewpoints, it offers a different experience from the Riegrova Trail, with its metal galleries and valley views.

Viewpoint and another hiking route

Masarykova vyhlídka offers a single, clearly named destination: at 497 m above sea level, it is Bítouchov’s highest point and a destination for walks and trips with views of Kozákov. Another hiking route, 10 km long in total, runs between Semily and Morava, passing through Bítouchov, and is described as accessible. The stated lengths range from 3 km to 5.5 km to 10 km; the trails also differ in their markings, the viewpoints mentioned and the accessibility description of the longer route.

Building history in Bítouchov

The Bítouchovská zvonička also provides a historic landmark for the village. It stands on a slope above the road in Bítouchov, dates from 1812 and has a shingle-covered cap; it was reconstructed in 1996. The two dates mark different stages: 1812 is the year it was built, while 1996 marks its later reconstruction. Visitors wishing to explore the village’s architectural history as well as its hiking trails will find a clearly dated point of interest here.

River crossing in Semily

Another crossing is in Semily: the Bítouchovská lávka crosses the Jizera there and lies on the Greenway Jizera route from the town centre to the Riegrova Trail. For navigation, the bridge is therefore a clearly named river crossing on the way from the town centre to the hiking trail.
