Třebihošť can be explored through two different interests: Zvičina as a tourist destination with summit views and historic trails, and its architectural history. When planning your trip, you can make the mountain the focus of your visit or take a closer look at the dates of trails, the church, and the chapels.
Zvičina and the View
The 671-metre-high mountain lies within the cadastral area of Třebihošť and is a popular tourist destination. From the summit, the view extends north across the eastern part of the Krkonoše Mountains and south across the Hořicko and Jičínsko regions. These two directions give the viewpoint a specific regional context: to the north, the eastern part of the Krkonoše Mountains is in view; to the south, the landscapes of Hořicko and Jičínsko. If you are mainly visiting for the view, Zvičina is the clear focus; historic buildings offer another way to explore local history.
The mountain lodge on Zvičina was renamed Raisova chata in 1927. It offers dining for ski and cross-country skiing visitors. Check before your visit whether this service is available, as facilities may change. Raisova chata does not currently offer accommodation. If you plan to stay overnight, you will therefore need separate accommodation; check its availability before booking.
Hiking and Trail History
Skiing in the Zvičina area developed from the beginning of the 20th century. The historic hiking trail from Hořice to Zvičina has a specific opening date: the Klub českých turistů opened it in 1920. The so-called Imperial Road is associated with the Perenská cesta; it was probably built between 1756 and 1763 during the Seven Years' War with Prussia. The dates have different roles: skiing refers to a development, the hiking trail to its opening, and the Imperial Road to its presumed construction.
Church and Chapels
The Zvičinský kostelík is an Early Baroque church dating from 1706, dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. Its sandstone altar dates from around 1740. The Kaple Nanebevzetí Panny Marie in Třebihošť dates from 1822. A chapel in Třebihošť was enlarged in 1900 and 1901 with the addition of a nave and an entrance vestibule. Together, these construction dates span from the early 18th century to the early 20th century. They refer to different features: the dedication and construction date of the Zvičinský kostelík, the approximate date of its altar, and the origin and enlargement of chapels.
