Kvasiny lies in the Bělá valley. The castle, park and historic Dlouhá strouha canal give a stay here several different points of interest: architectural history, river scenery and the historical use of water.

River and Water Engineering

A surviving stone bridge crosses the Bělá in Kvasiny. The castle and park ensemble stands on a terrace and hillside above the river’s left bank. The castle park also contains a pond and a wooden hut. The Dlouhá strouha canal begins in Kvasiny at the Bělá and runs along the northwestern edge of the municipality. It is built from large stones. In the past, the water system powered the mills in Solnice. The bridge and canal thus represent two different aspects of the relationship with water: crossing the river and its former use to power mill operations.

Castle and Exhibitions

Kvasiny Castle is a Renaissance building dating from the mid-17th century. The castle houses a historical exhibition on the history of the Janeček family and JAWA, as well as a permanent exhibition about dolls, puppet theatre and home theatre. The Chapel of St Anthony of Padua features trompe-l’œil wall paintings and historic organs. The subjects are distinct: family and motorcycle history sit alongside dolls and theatre, while the chapel’s furnishings provide another cultural focus.

Events at the Castle Grounds and in the Town

The recurring Zámecká neděle s auto-moto veterány takes place at Kvasiny Castle. The 13th edition, featuring JAWA motorcycles and other historic vehicles, was announced for 2026. Půtovy zámecké slavnosti has also been held at the castle grounds since 2018; the ninth edition was announced for 2026. The programme was set to include a medieval battle, a knights’ tournament, a falconry demonstration, puppet theatre and an acrobatic fire show.

The Evening Fairy-Tale Forest in the castle park features fairy-tale characters, games and activities for children; the 2024 municipal chronicle describes the event as annual. A summer volleyball tournament is traditionally held on the first weekend of July. A pilgrimage to St Anthony is one of Kvasiny’s cultural and social traditions. Children’s Day includes a walk through a fairy-tale forest. Kvasinská pouť was scheduled for 12–14 June 2026 at the Kvasiny Cultural Centre. If you are planning your trip around a festival or tournament, check the specific date before travelling.

Travel Information

Road II/321 from Častolovice to Deštné passes through the built-up area of Kvasiny. When choosing the occasion for your trip, it helps to distinguish between the town’s more enduring features—the castle ensemble and the history of water engineering—and events with specific dates.
